Kindergarten Parent Information Night
Date: January 29, 2026
Time: 6:30 pm
Every year, we invite the next group of kindergarten parents to become acquainted with our district by attending Kindergarten Information Night at each of our six elementary schools in Royal Oak. Incoming kindergarten parents can meet the teachers and principal and have their questions answered. This event is for adults only.
Kindergarten enrollment begins on February 2, 2026. All children who are five years of age on or before September 1 are eligible to enroll for the coming school year.
Find out more about enrolling in kindergarten here.
Report Cards
Report Cards will be available to view online starting Monday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m. through Parent Portal on the Royal Oak Schools website. There is a Report Card tab on the left side of the screen that you need to click to access your child's Report Card. If you have any questions or need help accessing your child's report card, please contact the Oakland Schools Help Desk at 248-209-2060.

Wellness Week is Coming!!! Feb. 2-6!
The Heart Heroes are coming back! Upton will be celebrating Wellness Week starting on February 2. We will be having a kick-off assembly on Friday, January 30, at 2:00 p.m. (Grades DK-2) and 2:30 p.m. (Grades 3-5).
We are participating in the Kids Heart Challenge, and it’s time for you to sign up your student to become an official Heart Hero. Download the AHA Schools app for iPhone or Android to search for our school or https://www2.heart.org/site/TR?pg=company&fr_id=11261&company_id=481132 and sign your student up! Then you can make your first donation and ask your family and friends to help make donations, too!
Any student who completes Finn’s Mission BEFORE January 30, will be recognized at the Kickoff Assembly! What is Finn’s mission? Check out this video from Damar Hamlin, professional football player from the Buffalo Bills, to learn more!
Prizes will be awarded for Completing Finn’s Mission and raising money to support the American Heart Association!

Looking to Volunteer?
If you have extra time and would like to help out at Upton, we are in need of volunteers during lunch and lunch recess. The time is from 11:15-12:45 p.m. You can volunteer once a week, one a month, or whenever you are available. If you are interested, you will need to complete a Volunteer Form (if you have not already done so) and let Mrs. Catchpole know. We hope you are able to assist!
Winter Weather Wear
Please make sure your child comes to school dressed and ready for outdoor recess. Unless temperatures or conditions are unsafe, our students will continue to enjoy fresh air and playtime outside. The temperature and windchill that Upton uses to determine whether we will have outdoor recess is 15 degrees or higher (both must be above 15 degrees).
Please send your child with:
Warm gloves or mittens
Winter coat
Hat
Boots
Snow pants
If your student or a child you know could use a few more warm layers, we can help. Send us a message with what you need. Also, if your child has outgrown their snow pants or boots, and they are in good condition, please consider donating them to Upton as we sometimes have students who could use these items.
