Message from Mr. Haugens
Today we were thrilled to kick off our very first Jaguar Dens of the school year!
The goal of Jaguar Dens is to foster a strong sense of belonging and build connections across our entire school community. Once a month, students are placed into small, multi-grade groups of 10–12 students paired with staff members from across the building.
Our focus last year centered on recognizing and thanking our wonderful local community organizations (police, fire department, park district, and the Village of Bloomingdale). This year we are turning our focus inward toward personal growth! Our Jaguar Dens activities this year will center on Executive Functioning, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and making positive choices that empower both ourselves and the school community.

MAP Assessment
Our students have officially completed their Fall MAP assessment. Great job to all of our students for their hard work!
Over the next two weeks, students will also participate in the AIMSweb reading and math benchmark assessments. These assessments are much quicker than the MAP test and provide an additional helpful data point to track student achievement and growth throughout the school year.
MAP results—along with Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) results for 4th and 5th-grade students—will be sent home on Friday, October 16th.
Accelerated Reader Program
Accelerated Reader (AR) is officially up and running for the school year!
Through this program, students can take comprehension quizzes on books they read from our library (or home!) to earn AR points. To celebrate their reading achievements, students who reach major milestones—such as 25, 50, and 100 points—earn custom brag tags and special recognition during their lunch period. We also have an exciting AR Night Out planned for the winter and a celebratory Spring Field Trip for students who hit point goals to qualify!
Please note that AR is an optional enrichment program—it is not required, but it’s a wonderful way to motivate young readers and build a lifelong love of books. Click here for more information about the program.

Safety Week
This week, we successfully conducted all of our required fall safety drills, and our students did a wonderful job following directions and practicing our procedures.
In addition to our drills, we were excited to welcome a guest presenter & DuJardin parent from ComEd! He visited our 1st and 2nd-grade students to share important, kid-friendly tips on how to stay safe around electricity and power lines.

Mrs. Cerami would like to welcome any parent/guardian volunteers into the IMC to help shelve books, help check books out and help students find books they love! If interested, please complete the Google form here by October 15th. Thank you for being part of our reading community!

- Health Office Website
Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.
