Tiger Strong All Year Long

Welcome Back!
Dear Manhattan High School students and families,
I am looking forward to another great school year filled with opportunities to engage, learn, and grow. Staff will soon be diving into preparations for the new year and eagerly anticipating the return of our students. Manhattan’s maintenance and custodial team has worked tirelessly all summer to ensure our facilities are clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for our doors to open. If you happen to see any of these individuals either at the school or while out and about, please take a moment to thank them for their ongoing efforts in keeping our schools running smoothly and efficiently. We also want to recognize our kitchen staff and the work they put in to ensure we have wonderful meals prepared and ready for kids from day one. We have great teams in place to ensure a well-rounded experience for students from the minute they walk into our schools.
As we begin the 2026-27 school year, we will be welcoming new staff, students, and coaches, along with introducing new classes, schedules, handbook updates, and more. Please take the time to read through the student handbook that is linked in the newsletter and also available on our school website. There are important updates throughout it that reflect thoughtful research, input, discussion, and work from our students, teachers, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders of the school.
I also want to recognize how our school-wide behavior expectations connect with our Profile of a Graduate. Teamwork, integrity, gratitude, effort, responsibility, and safety are not just school-wide expectations; they are the foundation for becoming contributing citizens, honest individuals, responsible achievers, effective communicators, discerning thinkers, and hard workers. These qualities are interconnected, guiding students in how they learn, how they treat one another, and how they prepare for life beyond high school. By practicing these daily, our students are truly living out what it means to be a Manhattan Tiger and embodying the vision of our Profile of a Graduate.
Lastly, I want to remind everyone that our school’s mission is to “Enter Here to Learn. Go Forth to Serve.” I encourage students to come each day ready to learn, contribute, and make it a great day. Every one of us brings unique strengths and qualities that make Manhattan High School a special place to be. As Robert Collier stated, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” Let’s make those small efforts count as we jump into another great year at MHS.
If you would like more information or have any questions, please reach out to the school or visit our district website at www.rollontigers.org. Bell schedules, supply lists, the District calendar, athletic events, and much more can all be found online.
Here’s to an exceptional year ahead!
Go Tigers!

Back-to-School FYI
This year, we will not have designated registration days prior to Open House. This is a change from previous years when students came in at scheduled times to select lockers and receive schedules. Instead, lockers will be assigned for students in grades 9-11, and students will be able to find their locker number and combination in Infinite Campus along with their class schedule. Seniors will be able to check in at the office to pick their locker between 8:00 AM and noon August 10th-14th or at the Open House August 20th.
Students should review their schedules in Infinite Campus, and any schedule change requests should be submitted through the Google Form Mr. Render posted in students’ Google Classrooms. Students or parents/guardians who would like to meet individually with Mr. Render, our high school counselor, may contact him at crender@mhstigers.org to schedule a time.
We hope students and families will join us for Open House on Thursday, August 20th, from 4:00–6:00 PM. This will be a great opportunity to meet teachers, drop supplies off in lockers, and walk through class schedules before our first day of school on August 24th!
Online Registration & Annual Updates
ALL students K-12 (current and new) must be registered online through the Infinite Campus parent portal to provide annual updated information including current proof of residency PRIOR to enrollment in Manhattan Public Schools for the 2026-27 school year. Contact Lisa Grevious (lgrevious@mhstigers.org) with questions or for more information.

PTO
Our PTO provides incredible support to our schools and teachers by funding purchases and expenses that directly impact classrooms and student learning. They also have several events planned throughout the year, and we hope to see many families join in and participate. Please consider supporting the PTO and lending a hand—their work makes a big difference, and the support is always greatly appreciated!

Miss Espiritu - Band & Music
Miss Weeda - English
Miss Lookhart - Math
Nadel Campbell - Paraprofessional
We are excited to welcome Nadel Campbell to the high school as a paraprofessional! After spending the past six years supporting students at the middle school, Nadel is looking forward to continuing that work with our high school students. She especially enjoys working one-on-one with students and watching them grow in confidence as they develop their skills and abilities. Outside of school, Nadel enjoys spending time with friends and family and being outdoors.
Miss Norris - Math
We are excited to welcome Miss Norris to our high school math department! She is looking forward to growing alongside students she has taught in the past while also building connections with students she is meeting for the first time. Miss Norris especially enjoys helping students tackle more complex math concepts and discover how the skills they have learned connect together, sometimes even sparking a new appreciation for mathematics. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family, and she is particularly excited to experience MHS traditions like Homecoming Week!
Seniors
Senior year is HERE! You are the leaders of our school, and expectations are high for the example you set as the Class of 2027. Make the most of every opportunity, every event, and every memory that comes your way.
Be sure to stay up to date on the Class of 2027 Google Classroom, where important information about graduation will be posted, including details from Jostens. Ms. Jones is the graduation coordinator and will be guiding students and families throughout the process. Mark your calendars as graduation will be SUNDAY, MAY 30th at 2 PM!
Also, a reminder...if you’re still interested in painting a parking space, it’s not too late! You may still submit an application and choose a spot to make your own for the school year. The scheduled painting days are August 11th-13th, however, if those dates do not work for you, you may work with Mrs. Howells to coordinate day(s)/time(s) that will.
Here’s to a fantastic senior year!
Athletics & Activities
Welcome back, Tigers!
I also ask that all parents complete their student’s ArbiterSports registration as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Completing this registration is an important step in ensuring your student-athlete is ready to participate and helps us provide the safest and best experience possible. Thank you for your continued support of our coaches, programs, and student-athletes. I’m looking forward to a great year together and can’t wait to see our Tigers compete.
