Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

I am going to make this update brief!

We had another great week last week at The Elmore School. We made it to our first vacation week of the year. We also concluded our first trimester of the school year, meaning we are now 1/3 of the way through the school year! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with your loved ones.

Next week will be another short week as we have and early release on Thursday and on school on Friday so can have parent / teacher conferences. I look forward to sharing your child's progress with you. If you have not had a chance to sign up for a conference with me, please take a moment to select a time to meet using the green button below.

Last week students were able to revise and edit their first drafts of their opinion writing. We we get return to school next week we will be ready to begin our final drafts.

During reading we are working on fluency and comprehension. We also read a Scholastic News comparing Thanksgiving, then and now.

In math first graders are using addition or subtraction strategies to compare data. Second graders are solving story problems involving addition and subtraction strategies within 100, and third graders are relating area to multiplication.

Students had fun with Ms. A. on Wednesday making adorable, pinecone turkey centerpieces!.

Thank you all who contributed to our Food Drive. We were able to donate several pounds of food and goods to the Lamoille Country Food Share on Thursday!

Our card sale was another success this year, bringing in around $700 which we will use for special events and field trips! We have been working on getting orders ready to send home and should be have these finalized early next week (before schedule!)

Our next Family Hot Lunch will be on Monday December 8th provided by Meg Weatherbee!

School Hot Lunch will be available next week on Monday and Wednesday. Sandwiches and Salads can be ordered Monday - Thursday. Please use the Green button below to email me you school lunch orders by Sunday at 6pm.

Thanks for another great week!

With Gratitude,

Diane Nicholls
