State Testing
Many of our students will soon be taking the NSCAS assessment. This assessment is for students in 3rd through 6th grade. The students take an English Language Arts and Math test. Students in 5th grade also take a Science test. This assessment is taken statewide and provides information on both growth and performance information on students. Students will be taking this test between March 23-May 1.

Attendance Matters—Every Day Counts!
Last quarter showed that coming to school every day helps students learn and grow. Being at school builds good routines, keeps students connected, and helps them feel confident.
As we start next quarter, we ask for you please help your child arrive on time each day, and schedule appointments outside of school hours. If your child must be absent, please be sure to notify the school as soon as possible. When available, we kindly ask families to provide doctor’s notes or appointment documentation so we can accurately code absences and support your child’s attendance record.
Of course, if your child is ill, keeping them home is the right choice—we appreciate your communication and partnership. Thank you for helping us set our students up for success. Together, we can make every school day count!
Student of the Month
Congratulations to our Students of the Month! 🎉
We’re so proud of you for being safe, thoughtful, and determined each day. Keep up the great work!
Assistant Principal 26-27
We are excited to share that our outstanding Assistant Principal, Ms. Lange, has been selected as the next principal at Forest Station starting in the 2026–2027 school year. We are incredibly proud of her and wish her all the best in this new role. She is an exceptional educator who will do great things for her new school community. Over the next two months, Mrs. Lange will continue to be fully dedicated to supporting our Liberty community.
We are also pleased to introduce our new Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year. Daniel Medrano brings a strong commitment to student success and a passion for supporting both students and staff. We are excited to welcome him to Liberty and look forward to the great work ahead.
Hi Liberty Elementary,
My name is Daniel Medrano, and I’m incredibly excited to be joining Liberty Elementary School as your new Assistant Principal! I started my career with Omaha Public Schools as a Physical Education teacher at Spring Lake Elementary, where I taught for six wonderful years. After that, I wanted to broaden my experience at the secondary level, so I joined Omaha South High School and taught Freshman Seminar for a year. For the past four years, I’ve served as Dean of Students at Marrs Middle School. Working in OPS has been an amazing journey, and I’ve truly enjoyed building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues along the way. I’m looking forward to bringing that same energy and student-centered focus to Liberty Elementary and to working alongside all of you to support our students’ growth and success. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Go Superstars!
