Holy Rosary School Derby

Welcome to the 2025 school year at Holy Rosary School. We hope you have all had an enjoyable break over the Christmas period and are ready to embrace the fantastic learning opportunities at our wonderful school.

From 2025, our school uniforms will be sold from Administration. Our school shirts are selling for $40, shorts for $10 and a replacement school hat is $15. Order forms can be completed in the office. Students from Kindy to Year 6 are expected to wear the uniform daily. Students in 3K are encouraged to wear the uniform but it is not compulsory (we encourage students to wear shorts and a t-shirt to facilitate unrestricted play). A reminder that students in Years 1 - 6 MUST wear sneakers or sandals with a strap across the back of the heel (thongs/crocs/slip ons are not permitted). Students 3K - PP may wear slip on shoes as they often are encouraged to play without shoes in and out of the classroom.

Our first whole school event will be our Welcome Back to School Mass on Thursday 6th February. All families are welcome to join us in the Church from 8.10am. On FRIDAY 7th February we will be holding a Meet the Teacher Sundowner from 5.00pm to 7.00pm in the Multipurpose Room. Soft drinks, tea/coffee and nibbles will be provided. We encourage all members of the family to come down to this event so that you can meet us and we can meet you.

We have lots of other exciting events happening across 2025. Swimming lessons for students in Years 1 - 6 from start on Monday 10th February to Thursday 20th February (all students are encouraged to participate as this is our Physical Education program and therefore contributes to each students grade at the end of the year). There will be a Welcome Back to School Pool Party for PP - 6 students on Friday 21st February. Further details will be sent out later this week.

We will be having a Commissioning Mass on Sunday 16th February at 9.00am, where we welcome the new staff to Holy Rosary School. Bishop Tim will be officiating this Mass with Father Steve, with morning tea being held in the Parish Centre afterwards. All families are welcome to join.

We have had some new families join us and this has resulted in a change to some of the class structures. Our classes in 2025 will be as follows;

Please come along to our Meet the Teacher Sundowner on Friday 7th February 5.00pm to 7.00pm to meet our wonderful staff.

At the end of 2024 it was decided that moving forward school across the West Kimberley that participate in inter-school carnivals will be required to have students meet qualifying times in order to represent their school. As a result of this change Holy Rosary will now be required to time events at our school carnivals in order to record times to determine if students meet qualifying times. Further details will be shared closer to relevant carnivals.

We are required to teach a language as part of the curriculum to students across Years 3 - 6 and due to our location it is difficult to find a consistent teacher to teach a consistent language. Our solution from 2025 is that our students from Year 2 -6 will be learning Auslan (Australian sign language) through online learning modules under the direction of their classroom teacher. The program allows us to meet the curriculum requirements for our students and also allows for students to learn a consistent language over their years at Holy Rosary.

Our school uniforms will now be available from the Admin and we will stock a small range of shirts and shorts. Shirts will be $40 and shorts $10. Order forms available in Admin from Miss Jenna. Payment can be made by cash, card or bank transfer. Students from Kindy to Year 6 are expected to wear the school uniform daily.

Our Three-Year-Old Kindy program runs on Thursdays and Fridays in 2025 - we are close to having to waitlist families with one place left in the 2025 program. Please come and see Miss Jenna, in Admin to collect an enrolment package if you are interested in your child attending this program.

Please ensure that the school is supplied with a current medical action plan for your child, if they need one. Parents are required to provide the school with a new plan at the start of each school year.

It is essential for Health Care Card holders to complete the necessary form immediately to be eligible for the school fee discount. Please come into the Admin to provide details at the start of the new school year.

All Health care Cards MUST be current so if yours has expired please come in and provide the updated details to Miss Jenna in Admin.
