River Oaks Elementary 2026-2027
We were thrilled to welcome State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver to our campus Wednesday. Superintendent Weaver took time to tour our classrooms and visit our Parent Resource Center in the library, seeing firsthand the incredible learning community our students, teachers, and families have built together.
The visit was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate hard work and academic success! Superintendent Weaver officially congratulated our school for our outstanding performance on the recent SC READY assessments, highlighted by:
81.5% of students meeting or exceeding standards in ELA
76% of students meeting or exceeding standards in Math
Thank you to Superintendent Weaver for stopping by, and a huge congratulations to our dedicated students and staff for this phenomenal achievement!
River Oaks Elementary Curriculum Night will be Thursday, October 1st, 5:30-6:30 pm.
π Summer Reading Celebration π
Summer Reading Champs and MVPs celebrated on Friday, September 11th in the Media Center. #RisewithReading
π International Dot Day π
Students in Child Development, Kindergarten, and grades 1-2 celebrated International Dot Day in the library. Following the read aloud of The Dot by Peter Reynolds, students had an opportunity to create their own dot as teams. Dots were displayed in the hallway and library. Students also learned the motions to The Dot Song.
Way to Dewey it!
Students in grades 3-5 learned how the non-fiction (informational texts) are classified into the Dewey Decimal System. Students arranged pictures and headings on a number line to mimic the shelf; index cards were arranged to match the shelf order; and a scavenger hunt of the non-fiction.
π #RisewithReading π
River Oaks Otters have read 40,838 pages. Our goal is 1,000,000 pages. Happy reading!
