Extra Halloween Candy Donation 🍫🍬
Do you have left over halloween candy??
Hi5 Dental is buying back unwanted Halloween candy for $1 per pound, and all the money raised will go directly to our PTO!
Simply drop off your excess candy in the designated Collection Box at the school entrance any day the week after Halloween. It's a sweet and simple way to support our students!
Food Resources Available
Is your family in need of food support?
We acknowledge that the disruption of SNAP food benefits may cause hardship to families in our community. We want you to know that you are not alone and that there is support available to help!
At Bethany we have Weekend Food Bags that are donated to us and prepared by Westview High School students. These bags are delivered weekly and sent home in students’ backpacks. If you would like to receive a Weekend Food Bag, please email our social worker (Ms. Dawson) at chloe_dawson@beaverton.k12.or.us by Friday, October 31st. Your student will be added to our list for November deliveries. We have plenty of spots available, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if this service would be helpful to your family.
There are also resources available in our community. The Beaverton Resource Center manages the Care to Share Food Pantry Network and features eight church food pantries located throughout Beaverton. Please call Care to Share at (503) 591-9025 to get connected to these resources. They can also connect you to rent & utilities assistance, health resources, and financial coaching. Other organizations that provide food pantries or pre-packed boxes include Salvation Army and Sunshine Division.
Finally, Beaverton School District is relaunching our Feed My Body, Feed My Brain campaign. Money will be raised for grocery store gift cards to be distributed among BSD schools prior to winter break. More information (including a donation page) will be sent out by the district soon. If you are looking for ways to help families in our community, please consider donating to this campaign or directly to a local food bank.
Bethany is here for all of our families and will be posting more resources as we get them.
In The Door By 7:44
Every morning is a new opportunity for success, and arriving on time sets the tone for a great day of learning, connection, and confidence. When students are at school by 7:45, they’re ready to dive into their day, greet their friends and teachers, and make the most of every moment.
We truly appreciate your efforts in helping your student start each day on time—it makes a big difference!
Here’s a quick look at our late arrival numbers this week (late = after 7:45):
- Monday: 49 students
- Tuesday: 53 students
- Wednesday: 35 students
- Thursday: 46 students
Let’s work together to bring those numbers down and keep the momentum going. Every day counts—and every minute matters!
National Microtia Awareness Day
National Microtia Awareness Day is November 9th. This year it falls on a Sunday, so we will be celebrating by Wearing Baby Blue on November 7th.

AVID Volunteer Opportunities
AVID tutorials have begun or are starting soon! These weekly sessions are a core part of the AVID Elective, where students collaborate to tackle academic challenges by asking and answering higher-level questions with their peers. 15 amazing volunteers have already been placed across 12 schools, but more support is needed! If you have any time in your schedule, we’d love your help as an adult tutor.
The following schools are still in need of volunteers: Aloha-Huber Park, Beaverton HS, Cedar Park MS, Highland Park MS, and Meadow Park MS.
You can watch this short video to learn more and sign up here on this Google Form.
If you have any questions, Please reach out to Helen Cai at Helen_Cai@beaverton.k12.or.us.
Thank you for considering this opportunity!
3rd - 5th Graders
If your student is interested in participating in OBOB, please check the OBOB Information link below. I will add more resources, practice questions, author name pronunciation guides etc. in the next couple months . Parents can help teams by facilitating discussion meetings at home, quizzing their student on details from the books, guide them to take notes on the details, registering to participate/ observe practice battles at various Washington County public libraries during winter break etc.

🚗🚌🚙. PARKING LOT REQUEST🚗🚌🚙
Morning arrival time and afternoon dismissal are the busiest times of the day at Bethany. SAFETY is our first priority, followed by providing a warm and welcoming start to everyone's day.
To that end, we would like to ask people to AVOID the need to use the crosswalk whenever possible. We understand there are some special cases, but in general, here are some helpful alternatives:
- Drop off and pick up your child at the curb. We provide curbside door service to help your child in and out of the passenger side of your vehicle and staff to support the transition inside if needed.
- If you really want to park and walk your child to the door, please use the lower parking lot and then walk along the sidewalk in front of the school, then we don't need to stop traffic twice for parents coming and going each way.
- Use off-campus parking in the cul-de-sac on Ashland Ave or on NW 178th Ave and then walk in along the sidewalk. Older students can meet their parents near the those locations to avoid the parking lot chaos altogether at dismissal time.
We really appreciate your help with keeping traffic moving smoothly and helping to keep everyone safe. If you have any questions or need help working out a solution for your specific situation, please don't hesitate to reach out to the office. 💛

Want To Volunteer: Here is How!
We love having families involved at school, and volunteering is a great way to connect and support our students and staff. To help keep everyone safe, all volunteers need to complete an application through our district’s volunteer system, Raptor, and pass an Oregon criminal background check. Once you're approved, you'll get a confirmation email.
Update: If you were in the system last year, you are still approved.
Volunteer Information and Application
Thanks so much for your support—we couldn’t do it without you!
