🎶 Elementary Music and Art Program 🎶 🎶 Elementary Music and Art Program 🎶

On Monday, our Kindergarten through 5th grade put on a wonderful Christmas program, showcasing many classic Christmas songs. After the music was over families gathered in the hallway to take in the art display made up of ornaments, drawings, snowflakes and much more.

Thank you to Mrs. Campbell, Ms. Lowry, Ms. Hottinger and Ms. Remington for all the work they put into the program and teaching our students to love art and music.

Also a big thank you to Ms. Henrietta Uhlennhop and Mrs. Bernice Cosner for their piano and violin accompaniment during the performance.

E-Sports Fall Banquet E-Sports Fall Banquet

On December 11th, Akron High School's Esports program celebrated its Fall Season accomplishments with an awards night at Snake Pit BBQ. Led by Mr. Schoenecker, the event highlighted the efforts and successes of two primary teams: Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart.

Season Highlights

Super Smash Bros. Team: This year’s Super Smash Bros. team had one of the most successful seasons since the establishment of Esports at Akron High School. The team’s hard work and dedication were evident as they achieved a 2-6 game record, which, while falling short of playoff qualification, included an impressive 19-38 match record. This marked a significant improvement in match wins compared to previous seasons, showcasing the team's growth and perseverance.

Mario Kart Team: The Mario Kart team had an exciting and competitive season. Starting off strong, they spent the first half of the season ranked in the top 20 statewide. Although they faced challenges in the latter part of the season, they ultimately earned a 33rd-place ranking—just one spot shy of qualifying for the 32-team playoff bracket. Their performance demonstrated both skill and potential, setting a high bar for future seasons.

Awards and Recognition

To honor the players' contributions and achievements, the following awards were presented:

  • Bars: William Lyons-Irvine and Brigid Ardrey (as returning letter recipients).

  • Letter and Pin: Merrick Ashby and Logan Winner.

  • Certificates of Participation: Jack Collins, Ian Gardea-Rocha, Gilbert Macias, and William Aucoin.

Looking Ahead

Overall, the Fall Season was a great success, filled with teamwork, growth, and memorable moments. The program looks forward to building on this foundation and is excited for what the next season will bring. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication—Akron High School Esports is on the rise!
