DFP Family Update

Dear Feeney Families,

We are excited to welcome you to DFP next week! Your child's first day of Preschool is Tuesday, September 8, 2026. We look forward to welcoming you to DFP next Thursday, September 3 for our open house. This visit is an opportunity for you and your child to see their classroom, meet the teachers and some classmates. You will also learn more about the structure of the day, arrival and dismissal procedures, and preschool expectations.

Please park in the Elm Street School parking lot and all families, please enter through the playground entrance, Door 12. We ask families to limit adults to 2 per child, and if possible, please leave siblings at home.

If convenient, you may bring updated physical forms and tuition payments to your child’s teacher.

Remember to Join DFP Class Dojo

If your child will be absent, late, or dismissed early

If your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early for an appointment, please notify both me and your child's teacher via email with the date and time.

For late arrivals, please proceed to the Main Office of Elm Street School to sign your child in. A secretary will notify the classroom, and a staff member will meet your student in the office.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Please read carefully the arrival and dismissal document attached below. Our start time is 8:30 AM and Elm Street School's start time is 9:00 AM. Please make every effort to be at preschool on time to avoid the Elm Street School arrival time. If you are late, please park in one the parking spots in front of the DFP playground or in a visitor spot in the parking lot and walk your child into the main office of Elm Street School.

*We will have staff at the doors for an extended period of time at the start of the year as we expect some students to arrive later due to the elementary school start times.

Please drive slowly when on school grounds

Our colleagues at Elm Street School continue to arrive to the building during our arrival time. Please be mindful of pedestrian traffic and drive slowly when on school grounds.

Arrival Timing - If you have children at other schools

We understand many of you are transporting children to multiple schools in Walpole in the morning. We want you and your child to arrive to school safely so take your time. We will monitor our procedures accordingly to ensure successful arrival to school.

Dismissal - Identification when picking up student

Please be sure to email Julie Martin and your child's teacher with the names of anyone who may pick up your child from school. Be sure all individuals have identification with them. Thank you.

Lunch at DFP

If your child attends a full-day program, lunch is available through our Nutrition Department at no cost.

Lunch options are as follows:

Monday: Chicken Nuggets

Tuesday: Burgers

Thursday: Mac and Cheese or Pasta

Friday: Pizza

Students eat both snack and lunch in the classroom. Students do not eat in the Elm Street School cafeteria.

DFP School Governance Council

If you are interested in joining our School Governance Council or would like to learn more about it, please contact Julie Martin. The School Governance Committee meets monthly to discuss our School Improvement Plan and goals for this school year. More information can be found HERE.

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00 am.

Popsicles at Preschool, Thursday September 17

Please join us on our playground for our Popsicles at Preschool event on Thursday, September 17 at 5:30 pm. It is a fun way to kick off the new school year and meet other Feeney families. Bring the whole family, we hope to see you then.

*Please note there may be a location change due to possible construction on our playground.
