A Message from Principal Holly Murray
Dear Mountain Shadows Families,
What a wonderful week on campus! We finally enjoyed outdoor recess, complete with a refreshing splash of rain on Monday.
A big thank you to everyone who came out to support our PTSA at Peter Piper Pizza last Friday! We love seeing our community come together, and we are already looking forward to our next sweet treat: enjoying ice cream together at Bruster’s on Wednesday, September 16th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Important Schedule Reminders:
Labor Day Weekend: There is no school on Monday, September 7th as we observe the 3-day holiday weekend.
Full Day Friday: Because of the Monday holiday, Friday, September 11th will be a FULL day of school with our regular dismissal at 3:30 PM.
September is our DVUSD Every Day Counts Initiative, learn more about the importance of consistent school attendance and how it supports student success on our district webpage.
Finally, we launched our very first week of Action Teams! Both students and staff were buzzing with excitement. With such a huge offering of teams this year, it’s an incredible opportunity for our students to discover new passions, collaborate, and continue to Glow into Leadership.

We’re all family, teacher, student, and/or community volunteers working together to build our Mountain Shadows community!
If you would like to get involved, here is a list of volunteer opportunities for the month of September.
⏰📢MEMBERSHIP DRIVE FINAL DAY! Today is the last chance to help your
students class earn a top 3 spot in the PTSA membership drive. With your
help there is a shot at winning: an animal encounter, water play, or extra
recess with popsicles! Final winners will be announced 9/8 and current
ranking are as follows:

🍨🍨Bruster’s Real Ice Cream Fundraiser! Join us for a cold treat before the
weather cools off 9/16 from 4-8PM at Bruster’s on 51 st Ave and Bell Rd.
Look forward to seeing some familiar faces serving up treats thanks to Ms.
Horn, Mrs. Murray, Mrs. Teran, and Mrs. Sparks!

Pre-Order your Spirit Shirts!
Our 26-27 spirit shirts are now ready for pre-order starting this Monday! Parents can purchase them online here You will need your student's ID number and the spelling of their last as listed in PowerSchool. Once that information is entered, click on Clubs and Activities, and last click on Spirit Wear.
Shirts are $18 each, $20 for XX and XXX. Payments can also be made in the front office.
The last day to pre-order is September 4th.
Mrs. Pop Finally POPPED!
Help us welcome our newest Coyote, Emory Popovich. Born 9/3, 6lbs 15oz and 19 inches long. Welcome sweet girl!

Picture day is coming September 8th! All students will be pictured as this photo goes into our yearbook. You can order online here and use the code: MountainShadowsFall2026. Retakes will be on 10/20/2026. Get those smiles ready!
