General Information
Class of 2026-come help plan your big day!
On Thursday, January 29th at 7:45AM in Talley's Room, D204, we will have our first student graduation committee meeting. While this is not mandatory, all seniors are invited to attend, and if you want to help plan, speak, or play music at graduation, you must attend this first meeting. We encourage you to join us in planning for this celebration of you and your class. If you want to be on the committee, but cannot attend due to a valid conflict, please email Talley. This meeting is for students only.
GWSD Seal of Biliteracy
Are you proficient in two languages? Juniors and Seniors are eligible to earn the Seal of Biliteracy for Gunnison Watershed School District. It is a special honor which recognizes the sustained effort it takes to become bilingual, which is widely recognized and valued by employers and universities.
To earn the Seal, a student must prove that they are proficient in both English and a World Language. Details in this slideshow. Apply using this form. Deadline is Friday, February 13th at 10:00pm.
CBCS Talent Show
The annual CBCS Talent Show will be held on Wednesday, January 28th from 5:30-7:00PM. All entries must pay a $10 entrance fee and attend a dress rehearsal from 2:00-4:00PM the day of the show. After-Prom Help Needed
Parents of high school students - the kick-off meeting for the Annual After-Prom is Monday, February 2 at Sarah Hartigan's house: 25 Floyd Ave in CB South at 6:00pm. After-Prom is a late-night party offering fun, music, dancing, games, food, prizes and a safe place for all prom goers to let loose and spend time together in a substance-free environment. This event is provided at no cost to students and takes many hours of planning and substantial fundraising. Many hands make light work — anyone willing to help plan this awesome event is welcome and we are looking for parents to train that can take over next year! Please come with ideas, enthusiasm and friends! RSVP to hartigansarah@yahoo.com
Middle School Skate Night
Middle school skate night will be on Friday, February 6th from 7:30-8:30pm at Big Mine. There will be $1 hot cocoa and a raffle at the end of the night. Bring money for skate rental!
Updated Volunteer Process
While volunteer forms have always been part of our procedures, the updated policy requires that all regular volunteers and volunteer supervisors complete the new form prompting an updated background check. These updates help us ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone while continuing to encourage community involvement in our school.

Yearbook Reminders
Senior Recognition Ad
As we celebrate our seniors and prepare this year’s Yearbook, we are opening the opportunity for families to purchase a senior recognition ad to honor your student(s). These ads are the perfect way to reflect on your child’s accomplishments and the memories made over the past thirteen years.
Yearbook ad orders must be submitted by February 1st, 2026. While this is not mandatory, families may choose between a half-page ad for $125.00 or a full-page ad for $225.00. We recognize that this is a considerable expense, and we appreciate your understanding. This is a one-time opportunity to commemorate your child’s journey from their first days of school through graduation in a keepsake that will last for years to come.
Thank you for supporting the yearbook and helping us celebrate the Class of 2026. Please contact cbhsyearbook@gwsd.net if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
The CBCS yearbook team

Student Release During the School Day
In an effort to alleviate disruptions to classroom learning, if you need to pick up your child during the school day, please do your best to utilize a passing period. We understand that this may not always be possible, but when it is, it really benefits our learning environment. Per the student handbook, middle school students must be signed out from the front office by a guardian. Please also call ahead or email. High school students can sign out from the office on their own with guardian approval (email cbssattendance@gunnisonschools.net or call 970-641-7720). Thanks for your help and support!
