Dear Y.E.S. Families,

We blinked and suddenly it was already October! We have had such a great start to the school year at Y.E.S. It has been fun to see students make progress in all areas. We are looking forward to welcoming parents into the building for parent teacher conferences next week.

If you have concerns or questions about your child’s progress, please bring them to conferences! Here are some examples of questions you may want to ask:

• Is my child meeting grade-level expectations?

• How does my child handle difficult tasks in the classroom?

• How does my child interact with peers?

• How does my child respond to feedback, frustration, or setbacks?

• Is my child able to follow classroom rules and routines?

• Does my child show respect and cooperation with teachers and classmates?

• Are there additional skills we should be practicing at home?

We want your Parent-Teacher Conference to provide a meaningful glimpse into your child’s day at Y.E.S. Thank you for your partnership in supporting their growth and success!

Project Update:

Construction progress continues to move right along! Over the past month, you may have noticed lots of white walls going up. The walls on the west end will include the new early childhood space including preschool classrooms and a second activity space. The gym walls were brought in with a crane which was so fun to watch!

In the coming months, you will begin to see steel go up to begin the roof on the addition. The goal is to have the preschool, kindergarten, and additional classroom space on the south side to be enclosed before the end of 2025.

We are excited to welcome you into the building for parent teacher conferences, and we encourage you to stop and visit the Book Fair next week too!

Thursday- Dress your best! It's picture day at Y.E.S. Look great for your photo

Friday- Duke Pride! Wear Duke clothes, blue and gold! WE ARE YORK DUKES!
