Bellerive Bulletin
Special Edition - January 9, 2025
Dear Bellerive Families,
We were very excited to welcome our students back this morning! We appreciate your patience during morning arrival and dismissal.
As you may know, we have used three snow days so far this school year. After the third snow day, Parkway transitions to Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI)—essentially virtual learning. While this will look much different from what we experienced during COVID, it will still provide students the opportunity to practice grade-level skills and meet with their teacher to ask questions.
In light of the current weather forecast, all students will bring their Chromebooks home from school today as a precaution in case of additional inclement weather on Friday morning.
Going forward, K-2 students will only take home Chromebooks when inclement weather is in the forecast. Otherwise, their Chromebooks will remain at school. 3-5 students will continue to take their Chromebooks home daily.
It is crucial that your child(ren) remember to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school each day.
Please remind your child(ren) of the importance of using their Chromebook for school purposes only.
Below, I’ve included key information to help you prepare for an AMI (virtual) school day, should one occur. Stay warm and be safe!
In Partnership,
Joey Kneer

Questions You May Have:
What device should students use for Virtual Learning?
All students have a Parkway-issued Chromebook.
- Grades 3–5: Students bring their Chromebooks home daily.
- Grades K–2: Chromebooks will be sent home only on evenings when inclement weather is forecasted.
All assignments and links will be posted on Schoology, which can be accessed via Clever.com by clicking the Schoology icon.
Links on Schoology may redirect students to Google Classroom or other platforms. If students know how to access Google Classroom directly, they may do so. Otherwise, Schoology serves as the central hub for all links and assignments.
- Teachers may also email parents and students directly, but all necessary links are still posted on Schoology.
- For convenience, this document lists the Google Meet links for all teachers.
Will teachers be teaching new lessons during the Google Meet?
No, the purpose of the Google Meets is to provide support for students who need help with assignments or have questions. There will not be any new instruction.
- Participation in the Google Meets is optional for students.
Will the assignments involve new learning?
No, assignments are designed to reinforce skills and concepts that students have already learned in class. They provide additional practice.
- If your child has questions or needs assistance, joining one of the two Google Meets can be helpful.
What if my child cannot complete the work due to access or supervision issues?
We understand that snow days can pose challenges for childcare and supervision, making it difficult for students to complete their assignments.
- If your child is unable to access or complete the work, there is no need to worry. Students will have time to complete the assignments later, or teachers can modify the work as needed.
