Dear Wessagusset Families,

For as long as I can remember, I have had two favorite seasons: Summer, and “Back to School” season! Just when I get sad about summer ending, excitement for the new school year takes over. We may not be ready to take our beach gear out of the car just yet, but it is time to start thinking about coming back to school…and there is no better school to come back to than Wessagusset! The building is sparkling, thanks to our hard-working custodians, Mr. Santa and Mr. Savoie, and our newly paved driveway and parking lot look amazing!

I hope you and your children are as excited as I am to start this brand new year. There is so much to learn, so many friendships to make, and so many memories to create. At Wessagusset we will continue to focus on academic achievement, building strong connections, and fostering social-emotional development. Our school goals include:

Educating the whole child, with an emphasis on high-quality, individualized instruction.
Creating an inclusive community that sees diversity as a strength.
Valuing collaboration, communication, and connection.
Working together to live our core values of respect, ownership, achievement, and responsibility.

I am thrilled to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Tenille Brennan to Wessagusset. Please take a moment to read this letter of introduction to learn more about Ms. Brennan: Meet Ms. Brennan! We are both looking forward to working with families, teachers, and school staff to help our students build the skills necessary to have a successful educational experience and to be productive members of our community. Our exceptional staff are committed to helping students view our school as a safe, positive, inclusive, place.

We hope you will join us for two very special events, sponsored by our Parent Council! The Kindergarten Playdate on Thursday, August 31st from 5:30-6:00, and the Back to School Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 31st from 6:00-7:30. To view your child’s classroom placement (Grades K-5), please log on to the Aspen Portal on or after Friday, August 25th, 2022. The first day of school for Grades 1-5 is on Tuesday, Sept 5th. This is a half day for students, with dismissal at 11:50 AM.

Kindergarten families will be receiving an email later today with an assigned time for Kindergarten Orientation which will occur on Wednesday, September 6th. The first day of school for Kindergarten students will be Thursday, September 7th and is a full day of school.
