CUSD 303 Places Bond Proposal on Nov. 3 Ballot
The St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 Board of Education voted on August 10, 2026, to place a ballot initiative on the November 3 ballot asking the community whether the District should issue bonds to fund maintenance needs and educational facility improvements.
The $282.5 million bond issuance would fund facility improvements throughout all district schools. The referendum follows recommendations from the District's Communitywide Education Facilities Committee. Over the past five months, the Board engaged in ongoing discussion of the 16 projects the Committee recommended be brought before it. These discussions included in-depth debate among Board members, reflecting the range of perspectives represented on the Board.
The bond referendum asks the community whether the District should issue bonds to fund facility improvements that include improving the sites of, build and equip additions to and alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities, including, but not limited to, replacing roofs, updating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, installing safety and security improvements, increasing accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and expanding space for Career and Technical Education programs; build and equip a physical education and athletic facility.
The District is planning several open houses to provide community members with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the bond proposal.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voter registration and early voting information are available through the Kane and DuPage Counties Clerk's offices. Early voting begins Sept. 24.
Richmond Elementary Celebrates New Addition
On August 10, Richmond students, families, and staff gathered for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating a brand-new Richmond Elementary. The new addition provides students and staff with wonderful spaces to learn, collaborate, and grow.
Thank you to everyone who joined the celebration and to the school, district personnel, and construction workers for all the work and support over the past few months to make Richmond Elementary better for our students and D303 community.
Davis Kickoff Assembly
Davis Elementary officially launched the 2026-2027 school year last Friday with a school-wide assembly centered on celebration and building connections among staff and students.
The event featured a review of student expectations and introduced this year's theme, Grow Together. Mascot Davis the Dragon dropped by to mark the occasion, and the St. Charles Public Library joined the festivities to award students a trophy for logging the most summer reading minutes and to inspire them to maintain their reading habits. What a great way to start the school year!
