Principal's message
Dear MPS families-
Thank you to all families who participated in our parent/teacher conferences. We value the opportunity to meet with families to share how our students are progressing and to share all of the great learning happening here at MPS!
Our book fair was a great success and we thank Mrs. Storm and Mr. Jeffries for their work in setting this up for our students and families. Additionally, we would also like to thank volunteers who came to work during the book fair.
We will hold our fall parade and party on Tuesday October 24th. Students are welcome to wear a costume, dress up clothes, or dress as their favorite book character. All students and staff will participate in a fall parade beginning at 9:15am . Visitors can watch the parade outside. The parade will occur rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will be held inside for staff and students only. If a decision needs to be made about the parade, a Find Out First (FOF) will be sent that morning. **Please no weapons or scary masks**
Class party times are at set times as decided by teams. These times were communicated directly with families. MPS will provide a food item and small bottle of water for the party. We will have an allergy friendly snack but please reach out to your child's teacher if you would like more information on this snack or would like to send an alternative snack. *If you were chosen to volunteer at the party, you must be volunteer trained. There will be no exceptions.**
Overflow parking for the parade and parties will be at the activities building behind the fire department. Please DO NOT park in the fire department parking lot. Additionally, please allow enough parking at our building for our staff to park as they arrive for work.

As we continue to focus on being Safe, Kind, and Hardworking, we will begin recognizing students at school for demonstrating these qualities. Your student may come home with a sticker on their shirt noting they were seen being Safe, Kind, and/or Hardworking. Ask your student about this and I am sure they will be so proud!
Kindly,
Sandy Fox, Principal

MPS Service Project- Blessing Baskets
Thanksgiving is a time for family, food and gratitude. Many people in our community will struggle to enjoy the holiday this year. Can you help us a fill blessing basket or two?
Each year MPS takes part in some sort of community project to model for our students ways to give back to our community. This year we are partnering with Joanna Brown Homes to gift Blessing Baskets to many local families.
If you are able to contribute a food item, a laundry basket, an entire basket and/or if you can help in putting them together on Tuesday, November 7th please see the sign ups below. Thank you!

MPS Artsonia
Good Afternoon Families!
MPS is participating with Artsonia again this year. It has become a great way for parents and relatives to get a glimpse into the art classroom and the hard work our students continue to do on their artwork! We also use the proceeds from Artsonia as a way to further fund the supplies we use in the art classroom! Please use the following link to join and view the beautiful artwork your student has created so far this year!
Please note: if you participated last school year, you will not need to sign up again.

Volunteering at MPS or any FCPS school
We love having volunteers in our building to help in various ways. Teachers determine if and when volunteers are needed and share that information with families. If you will be volunteering or have been asked to volunteer, it is important to note that you must complete the FCPS volunteer training.
Volunteering includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:
- Working in the school library
- Hanging art work in the hallways
- Making copies for teachers in the building
- Being a mystery reader in a classroom
- Chaperoning field trips
- Helping inside the classroom
If you would like to volunteer in any capacity you must first complete the volunteer training using the link below. Please note it can take up to 72 hours for processing. As you plan your volunteer time, be sure to leave enough time for your volunteer status to be updated.
You only need to complete this one time each school year. Volunteers will not be permitted if the training has not been completed and forwarded to MPS. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to keep student and staff safety as our number one priority.
