Information for Families
Dear Timberwolf Families,
Thank you to the School Council for organizing such a fun Cake Raffle this year. This event would not be possible without the families who baked the cakes and cupcakes, as well as the support from families who sent in money for students to buy raffle tickets. $1004.40 was raised from this event. These funds go towards special activities within the classrooms and around the school.
The first of the Family Workshops that is being brought to Truedell is for all families in the Bayridge Family of Schools. We are excited to host the safeTALK training for interested families. LivingWorks safeTALK training equips people to be more alert to someone thinking of suicide and better able to connect them with further help. You will learn how to reach out to someone thinking about suicide and help them keep safe by promptly connecting them to further support.
During this 3-hour workshop you will:
- Learn what happens when signs of suicide are overlooked, and how you can contribute to safe outcomes when these signs are heard and addressed
- Learn more about LDSB Suicide Response Protocols
- Meet other caregivers
A mental health support staff will be on hand at the workshop to support your safety and comfort. Dinner will be provided. Please note that this workshop is capped at a maximum of 30 people. You may register using this link: https://forms.office.com/r/fHEP9qRWjL
There are also a number of Mental Health Workshops for children and families offered by the Maltby Centre. Please take the time to review the ones being offered this Spring. I highly encourage families to access these excellent workshops.
As always, please reach out to us if you have questions or need support.
Take care,
K. Esford, Principal
