Take a Survey About Our School Campus
We need your feedback! You are invited to take a quick survey to help LCPS gain insight into what’s working well and what needs improvement across our schools and school campuses.
You will be asked for input about our school's buildings and grounds. Please note that this feedback is strictly focused on the physical environment and does not include questions about staff, instruction, curriculum or school culture.
Please look for a link from the LCPS Capital Budget team listing lcpssurveys@lcps.org received on April 9!
Don’t miss this chance to be heard! The survey should take no more than 5 minutes.
Many thanks for helping us understand how we can improve our school’s campus.

We know back-to-school time can be…a lot.
• New clothes. (How did they grow so fast?)
• New schedules. (Is it soccer and then ballet, or the other way around?)
• New friends. (Ooh, they live down the street. Maybe we can carpool!)
Here’s one part of back-to-school you don’t have to stress about: buying school supplies. With School Tool Box, all you have to do is find our school’s name and your child’s grade, and you can buy their entire supply list in just a few clicks. No fuss, no lines, no trips to the store.

News from SWES PTO
PTO: What does that even mean?? The PTO is a Parent and Teacher Organization that builds community among families, bridges the gap between teachers and parents, and enriches the school experience. The PTO organizes fun events, raises money to help families in our community, and assists with school projects. The Weller PTO will be losing a significant number of parents next year. We're looking for new parents to step in and help our team of awesome volunteers! Being involved in the PTO is a great way to become plugged in and get to know your child's teachers, friends, and fellow parents. We have a variety of open roles with different commitment levels. We'd love to chat more about how you might help.

Supporting Social Emotional Growth at Home
Here are questions you can ask your children about what will be presented this week in their daily SEL lessons
Problem Solving
Students will start learning about problem-solving skills in this new unit. They will learn to apply relationship skills to identify and state problems respectfully. Grades 3-5 will also begin learning about the STEP process: State the problem, Think of solutions, Explore the consequences, and Pick a solution.
K - Children may be tempted to blame others when they’re upset about something. Encourage your child to avoid blame by describing what happened without focusing on who is at fault.Ask your student: what is something that makes you feel confident?
1 - Children may be tempted to blame others when they’re upset about something. Encourage your child to avoid blame by describing what happened without focusing on who is at fault.
2 - Ask your child for an example of blame words. Have them explain how they’d say a problem without using blame words.
3 - Ask your child if they can recall what each letter in STEP stands for. (S: Say the problem, T: Think of solutions, E: Explore the outcomes, P: Pick a solution.)
4 - Talk with your child about times when they might have an interpersonal problem (a disagreement between two or more people) with a friend. Encourage them to use these moments as opportunities to practice feeling calm and speaking up for what they want or need.
5 - Ask your child what kind of interpersonal problems they can solve on their own, and when they might need an adult’s help.
