Notes from the Principal:

  • CHISD is celebrating Gear Up Week September 25th - 29th. There are themed days and lessons associated with each day during that week. All scholars and staff may wear jeans each day this week as long as they are participating in the district themes and wearing the appropriate college themed items. The theme for each day is included in a graphic within this weekly newsletter.
  • Our All Pro Dads are hosting a breakfast in our campus library Friday, September 29th from 8:00 AM - 8:45. Every Permenter dad and his scholar(s) is invited and encouraged to attend. Please rsvp here to reserve your slot at the Permenter All Pro Dads and Scholar Breakfast.
  • Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
  • If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) they have until October 5th to correct it and get the color within CHISD dress code.
  • There has been a revision to our standard of dress for scholars each week. Please make note of the change regarding Fridays. Scholars can now wear college/university tops on Fridays with jeans as another option beyond CHISD spirit attire.
  • CHISD has added a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to the November 7th Ballot. Please click here to learn amore information about the proposed VATRE and important voter registration guidelines and deadlines.
  • Please click here to view Chief Hawthorne's most recent safety message.
  • Our scholars have an opportunity to partner with UNT for a campus based initiative. For more information, please email Ms. Miller at melinda.miller@chisd.net. The online application can be found here.
  • September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. In addition to a Hispanic Heritage Month program scheduled for October 12th, we will be providing weekly lessons that increase awareness for the many positive contributions and significant history of Hispanic Heritage Month.
  • Our counselors are developing intentional support for our scholars. Please provide input by completing this parent needs assessment survey. This will help them to develop programming that also address the concerns of our parent partners. The survey is found here.
  • Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
  • It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.
  • This is the first week of the 2nd grading cycle of the school year. Please encourage your scholar to start in a great way.

Faithfully,

Dr. Lemons

Principal, Permenter Middle School
