Dear KMS Families,

What a week it has been at KMS! Our choir, band, and orchestra students put on beautiful spring performances, the Drama Club absolutely killed it on stage, the Wood Shop and Art Department's Spring Sale was a hit, and the 7th Grade Fantastic Beasts Display at KPL is still going if you have not seen it yet, so go check it out! We also had a great time welcoming our future Kodiak families at the PTSA's 5th Grade Family Fun Night. There is so much good stuff happening around here, and honestly, the next few weeks are shaping up to be even busier.

Before we get too deep into our end of year celebrations though, we want to make sure every student is in a good spot academically. Credit Recovery is the only way to make up failing quarter grades this year, so if your student needs it, please do not sleep on it. Students need a yearly average of 60 or better in ELA, Reading, Writing, and Math to avoid summer school or having to repeat a class next year. A quick check of grades now can save a big headache later.

We also want to give families a heads up that students with failing grades and/or Tier II or Tier III behavioral referrals will not be eligible to participate in some of the upcoming end of year events. We know that is tough to hear, but we want everyone to have the full picture. The good news is there is still time to finish the year on a great note, and we genuinely mean it when we say we are in your student's corner. Let's finish strong, KMS!

KMS PTSA MEETING: OFFICER ELECTIONS, 6PM KMS PTSA MEETING: OFFICER ELECTIONS, 6PM

KMS PTSA Officer Elections are coming up and we want you involved!

Does your student enjoy Friday Night Lives, Rising 6th grader night, special afterschool clubs, or donut parties? Do you enjoy dinner being offered at conferences? Are you a teacher that loves being able to receive PTSA financial support for classroom extras? To keep these things going, it requires folks to step up and run for PTSA board!

To be added to the ballot, email Katrina Filipowicz at katrina.filipowicz@gmail.com or comment on our post on the KMS PTSA facebook group.

Elections will be held at the next PTSA meeting on Wednesday, May 6th at 6pm in the Teachers Lounge. We hope to see you there!

5TH GRADE FAMILY FUN NIGHT

What an incredible night! Our future KMS 6th graders and their families came out to explore the school, and we pulled out all the stops to welcome them in style. The energy was unmatched with a Parents Q&A Booth, Prize Plinko, DJ Mark spinning tracks and snapping revolving selfies, face painting, and a Scavenger Hunt Tour led by our awesome 8th grade students. Coach King and the KMS Cross Country team also showed up big, running a fundraiser snack sale that kept everyone fueled throughout the night. It truly took a village to make this event so special, and we are beyond grateful to every single person who volunteered, organized, and showed up to make it happen. We cannot wait to officially welcome our newest Kodiak Grizzlies next year!

SPRING MUSICAL CONCERTS: BRAVO!

Last week, our middle school music department took center stage and absolutely delivered! Our choir, band, and orchestra each put on stunning performances.

We are incredibly proud of every student who dedicated their time, energy, and heart to making these concerts so special, and an equally big congratulations goes to Mr. Serjoe, whose passion, patience, and talent bring out the very best in our young musicians.

Moments like these remind us why music matters so much.

Bravo to our music department.

You made us all so proud!
