It supports teachers and students through innovative grants, funding creative projects not covered by district funds. The foundation strengthens community-school ties to boost local economic vitality.
"Read to Feed" Initiative with Heifer International
To encourage student reading at all grade levels and global awareness, the district has launched the "Read to Feed" initiative in partnership with Heifer International. As students log their reading minutes, corporate sponsors donate money to Heifer International to help end global hunger.
The Platform: Students log minutes spent reading at home or at school via the Beanstack app.
The Reward: Top 3 students will receive trophies; top student and school get to slime the superintendent!
The Goal: 200,000 collective minutes spent reading from Jan 21-April 3.
This week Ridge Road and Indian Hills are staying in the lead for first and second places respectively, Lakewood Elementary swooped in and took third place from Crestwood Elementary who is now in fourth place, Meadow Park maintains fifth place, Boone Park passes up NLRMS 6th Grade Campus for sixth place leaving NLRMS 6th Grade Campus in seventh place, NLR 6 passes up Glenview Elementary and Amboy Elementary who are now in ninth and tenth places, NLRHS maintains eleventh place, the COE passes NLRMS 7/8 Campus for thirteenth place, and our 3 and 4 year old's at Pike View remain in last place but there's still time to catch up!
Please encourage your students to log their reading this week!
