Fuzz Frenzy

We read The Great Fuzz Frenzy in class. First graders will use critical thinking as they learn the elements of thought and design a new creation with their own "fuzz".

Each student will pretend they have “all of the fuzz” just as Big Bark did. They will use the fuzz and choose craft items to create something useful.

Students will come up with an alternate ending to the story using their creation.

Second Grade Second Grade

Brain Research

Fourth Grade Fourth Grade

Students in fourth grade are beginning a unit on Rube Goldberg. Students will belearning about force, motion and simple machines. They will design and create a contraption that will initiate a “cause and effect” relationship which will deliver a marble into a container. To begin our unit we experimented with variables in a force and motion lab this week.

Glue a Shoe

Each year the Texas State Fair holds a shoe competition. Many compete in this illustrious contest, designing shoe scenes along with a clever play on words. 5th graders' task is to create, design, and build a winning entry for the GHES Glue a Shoe Contest. They start with an original idea and must show a clever play on words.

Here is a clip of the contest entries at the State Fair.
