BITS AND BARK
SUBURBAN BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN SCHOOL
August 21, 2025
Our Mission: Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School disciples each generation to grow deeply, serves humbly, and goes boldly in Christ to advance God’s Kingdom.
Let's get this school year started! 🥳
Strength for Eternity
Theme Verse: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
The Coffee Bean story (shared in church on Sunday) reminds us that when placed in boiling water, some things weaken (like a carrot), some harden (like an egg), but the coffee bean transforms the water around it. It doesn’t just survive the heat—it changes the environment.
This is the call we have for our children. Academics matter, sports and activities matter, but they cannot be the foundation for eternity. If all we give them is worldly knowledge, then we’ve left them ill-prepared for the pressures of life. But when we plant them deeply in Christ—when we pour into them the Word, prayer, and worship—they are strengthened not only for today, but forever.
Encouragement for Parents
-
Academics prepare them for careers. Eternal truth prepares them for heaven.
-
Sports and activities build skills. Christ builds character, forgiveness, and hope.
-
Good grades may open doors. Faith in Jesus opens the door to eternal life.
We together have the privilege and responsibility of pointing your children to Jesus daily—in the classroom, the court, the playground, at the dinner table, in bedtime prayers, on the drive to school. These moments shape not just their present but their eternity.

Families earn money by purchasing gift cards at face value and earning a rebate at the end of the year. 70% of the rebate goes back to each individual family. 10% goes to the church, 10% goes to the school, and 10% stays in the scrip program to help pay for shipping costs. See the attachment below to see an example of how it could work for your family and an order form.
