Coming soon: Mad Scientist Day at RVS!
On Tuesday, October 31st, students will spend the afternoon at Mad Scientist Day! We will rotate through fun science experiments that may be slimy, icky, or even a little explosive (just baking soda, don't worry!). We are looking for any caregivers that may have fun experiments to share. Please contact Shannon to join in on the fun! We are planning for 12PM - 2PM.
Classroom Spotlight: Katie Swick's Kindergarten!
Our kindergarten group has quickly gotten used to the ins and outs of school: they are supportive of each other and wonderful to visit with. On recent visits to their classrooms, I have been so impressed with Ms. Katie's creative approach to literacy: in addition to learning all letter names and sounds, Ms. Katie has provided her students with opportunities to spell out their names in sunflower seed art, act out stories they've heard, and even integrate fun props into their retellings! Keep up the great work, kindergarten.
October Reading Challenge
Students in grades K-4 are participating in a reading challenge for the month as they get used to reading at home and tracking their progress. Grades K-2 should return these at the end of the month: grades 3-4 can return them on Fridays. Thanks so much for your support in encouraging your kids to read at home. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need help accessing books - we have plenty to share!
Third and Fourth Grade Leaders!
Third and fourth grade students helped to run our first bus drill of the year. They worked with their bus driver, Don, to plan and facilitate a calm and quickly done bus evacuation drill. They helped all younger students safely hop off the back of the bus, too! Great work, third and fourth graders.
