Note from the Principal
The 2026-27 school year is off to a fantastic start at Shadowlawn Elementary! Our Seahawks have returned with big smiles, eager minds, and excitement for the year ahead. It has been wonderful to see students reconnect with friends, meet new teachers, and jump right into learning. Our classrooms are already filled with engaging lessons, creativity, and opportunities for students to grow and thrive.
This year, our school theme is Shadowlawn United: A World of Learning. Together, we will take a journey around the globe as students learn about countries, cultures, and traditions from different parts of the world. We will also connect our learning to the excitement of the World Cup, helping students discover how people from around the world can come together through teamwork, sportsmanship, and shared experiences. We can't wait to see where this year's learning adventure takes us!
Each Thursday, students will bring home their weekly communication folders. These folders contain important school and classroom information, including permission slips, flyers, upcoming events, and other notices. We encourage families to make it a weekly habit to check the folder each Thursday and return it to school on Friday.
At Shadowlawn, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school help students succeed. Our entire team is here to support your child and family throughout the year. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need assistance.
We are looking forward to an amazing year of learning, growing, and exploring the world together!
In Partnership,
Amber Eliason
Principal

📚 Welcome Back to the Library! 📚
We are excited to welcome all of our students and families back to the Shadowlawn Library for another wonderful year of reading and learning! Our library is ready with thousands of books waiting to be discovered, and we can't wait to help students find their next favorite read.
September is a great time to jump into Accelerated Reader (AR). Students are encouraged to read books at their level and take AR quizzes to build reading skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading. Families can support their readers by setting aside time each day for reading and encouraging them to discuss the books they enjoy.
Be sure to mark your calendars for our Scholastic Book Fair in October! The Book Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore exciting new books, build their home libraries, and support our school library. More details will be coming soon.
Thank you for supporting literacy at home. We look forward to a fantastic year filled with great books, reading adventures, and happy readers!
Happy Reading!

Golden Apple Teacher Nominations Open
One of the greatest strengths of Shadowlawn is our exceptional educators. We invite parents, students, staff, and community members to recognize outstanding teachers for the 37th Annual Golden Apple Awards, presented by Champions For Learning. Thank-A-Teacher nominations are open through September 16, 2026. These nominations not only provide an opportunity to express appreciation for the remarkable teachers who make a difference every day, but they also play an important role in identifying Teachers of Distinction who are considered for Golden Apple honors.
