Thank You for Coming to Our Glow Bash!
Dear BES Families,
What a fun weekend for our BES Wildcats! Little Cheer Night was so fun to watch and then our Glow Bash was a great party on the field! Thank you all for donating and coming to celebrate. If you have any donations to turn in, please do so by Tuesday so we can announce our winners on Wednesday!
Your fifth graders have been amazing as we worked through some scheduling glitches with band and music. I will post each week's band schedule on this message so you can plan ahead for when to bring instruments. The band schedule will be below our weekly specials schedule.
On Friday, we celebrated our August Attendance! Our schoolwide goal is to have 92% each month. You can see our winning classrooms below. If your child's attendance becomes a concern, I will reach out to you to let you know and together we can plan to cut down on tardies and absences. When a student misses a week from illness or vacation, they don't just miss out on the 'work.' More importantly, they are missing out on five or more hours of instruction, guided practice, and indepdent practice on the new concepts or skills being taught. It is a lot of time to make-up for the student, and the teacher!
This week we will honor Patriot Day on Wednesday. May we never forget.

Mindset Minute
This week we begin discussing the mindset, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. This mindset gets us dreaming big, thinking about what we hope to accomplish, what we want to learn or get better at and what we want to become. Being able to envision these things in our future enables us to think about how we get there and then make choices each day that point us in the direction of our dreams. We will have conversations about dreaming big, embracing creativity, thinking positive and learning to act & adjust.

Blessings In a Backpack Sign-Up
Louisburg USD 416 participates in a local Blessings in a Backpack program. The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children that would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. The program runs throughout the school year and there is no cost to participate.
Please complete the following form for EACH student that you would like to participate. Distribution will begin the week following Labor Day in a discreet & caring manner.
Pedestrian Crosswalk at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive
As you have probably seen, there is a new pedestrian crosswalk and beacon being installed at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive. It will be a similar beacon and crosswalk that is in place on South Metcalf, by Ron Weers Park. There have been some installation delays so it will not be installed when school begins. We will have a school staff member out at the crosswalk and the city is working on some temporary signage. The hope is to have the crosswalk fully functional by the end of August.
We urge extreme caution at this crosswalk until it is fully functional.

Attendance and School Calendars
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
Great Attendance for August!!
Congratulations to the Classroom Winners!
