CES Weekly Communicator
Issue #5: September 8, 2023
Principal Corner
Breakfast with Buddies was a HUGE success! We had more families come than we did last year. We would like to shout out CASSITY BUTLER and THOMAS GUNN leading the event as co-chairs. It would not have been possibly without a great committee setting up on Thursday night and parents serving breakfast during the event. I am proud of the 5th grade students volunteering as well as some 4th graders. It is so nice to see the community we are building together at Chapelfield for our students. Thank you.
This year, we did not do a typical curriculum night. We tried something new. All of of our classroom teachers sent a video through email to each family last week explaining what to expect in their classroom. If you have any questions, please email your child's teacher.
Please take a moment to read the sections about arrival/dismissal and breakfast. There are important announcements to help us have a successful school day.
Don't forget Monday is picture day! I can't wait to see everyone's smile! Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Nikki Miller
Counselor Corner
Hello Chapelfield Families!
Check out this article titled Teaching Kids the Right Way to Say 'I'm Sorry'. Good apologies require empathy, perspective-taking, honesty and courage--all things we will work on during morning meetings and classroom guidance lessons. These life lessons encourage conscious, true apologies instead of saying sorry for something just because someone told you to.
GRIN is a local community service that supports Gahanna residents in need. Here is a handout with information about the services they provide. If your family is in need, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Jasin (jasink@gjps.org) and she can connect you with additional resources.
If you have concerns and would like me to meet with your child, please fill out the Parent Referral Form which can also be found on the GJPS Chapelfield website under the Counseling tab.
Best,
Krysten Jasin

Breakfast at 7:40- 8:00 a.m.
We offer breakfast from 7:40 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. If you want your child to receive a full breakfast, please be at school by then. We open the door at that time.
It is also important to be at school on time so students are ready to learn for the day.
