A MESSAGE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATION
Greetings Jacket Family!
We hope everyone is having a great start to the school year! It’s hard to believe how quickly the first few weeks have passed! Our students are settling into their routines, building relationships with their teachers and classmates, and continuing to grow academically. We appreciate everything our families are doing at home to support a successful school year, and are excited about the progress we’re seeing.
We are quickly approaching the end of our first grading period on October 1st, so now is the time to make sure students know exactly where they stand. An important change this year is that there is no longer a “grading floor.” In previous years, a nine-weeks grade below 50 may have been raised to a 50; that will no longer happen. A grade below 50 will remain the grade earned. Because of this change, we strongly encourage parents to check the Parent Portal early and often rather than waiting until the end of the grading period. Look for missing assignments, low grades, and areas where your student may need additional support. Encourage students to communicate with their teachers, attend tutoring when needed, and make a plan for completing outstanding work. Staying aware now can help prevent one difficult grade from derailing your student’s academic progress.
As we continue through the school year, remember that communication is one of the best tools we have for supporting students. Check school emails and announcements regularly, visit our school website for important updates, and encourage your student to share what is happening in their classes. Questions like, “How are your classes going?” or “Is there anything coming up that you need help preparing for?” can open the door to meaningful conversations. When parents, students, and the school stay connected, everyone has a better opportunity to succeed. Thank you for continuing to partner with us!
