School Safety and Security
As part of our standard safety procedures, each school will conduct an unannounced lockdown drill in the coming weeks. When the lockdown announcement is made, students and staff will follow established protocols based on prior training and drills. Students and staff will follow established protocols based on prior training, and Milton Police personnel will be on site to assess the building and provide feedback. The drill typically lasts less than 30 minutes. Although the drill is unannounced, students and staff are informed shortly after the announcement that the event is a drill. Age-appropriate messaging is shared with students leading up to the drill to ensure they feel supported and prepared.
Pierce at the Huntington Theatre
Last Friday, a group of Pierce theater students were treated to a matinee performance of "We Had a World" at the Huntington Theatre. After the show, our students met the actors, participated in conversations with them about the production, and took lots of photos.

Halloween at Pierce
For the past few years, students and staff have been invited to dress up for Halloween. It has been a big success and a lot of fun. If students choose to wear a costume to school on Friday (10/30/26), they will need to follow the expectations below.
- No weapons
- No inflatables
- Faces must be visible and recognizable
- Students must be able to participate in all school activities while wearing the costume
- Costumes must meet dress code requirements
- Students must arrive to school in their costumes (we will not be painting faces or doing hair in the bathroom)
Health Room Donations
We greatly appreciate families’ donations of items to have available when students need a change of clothing. If you are still interested in helping, we are in need of black joggers, sweatpants and leggings. Donations can be dropped off to Nurse Nims in the health room.

Looking Ahead - Volunteers Needed!
We have several opportunities coming up and would love some extra hands! We're currently looking for volunteers to help with:
- Parent/Teacher Conference Luncheon - help us organize a meal for Pierce staff during the long day of conferences.
- Swag Sales at Parent/Teacher Conferences - help sell Pierce gear at our biggest swag sales event of the year!
- Holiday Staff Luncheon - we're looking for volunteers to help organize one of our staff favorites! This special luncheon takes place on the last day before winter break and is always a fun way to send our amazing Pierce staff into the holidays.
Interested in helping with any of these? Reach out to the PTO! Whether you can take the lead or just lend a hand, we'd love to have you.

Fruit Center Shopping Week
Get ready for the 17th Annual Fruit Center Marketplace Fundraising Program for our schools, happening next month.
Over the past sixteen years, the Fruit Center has proudly donated, though this program, over $210,000 to schools in Milton and Hingham. The program is open to all K–12 schools in these towns, including both public and private schools.
Here’s how it works:
Dates: The program runs from Monday, November 9 through Sunday, November 15, 2026.
Vouchers: Each school has its own shopping vouchers, available here. Present the shopping voucher for your school when you shop during the fundraising week. You can use your vouchers for unlimited shopping trips during the week.
Give Back: After the week ends, we’ll calculate 20% of the total purchases made using vouchers from each school and donate that amount back to the school. Some restrictions apply — see all details are on our website.
Raffle: Parents who shop with a vouch can participate in our raffle to win a $100 Fruit Center gift card! Just fill out your name, email, and phone number on your shopping voucher to enter. One winner will be selected from each store.
Thank you to the Fruit Center for supporting our schools!

DEIB LIT Community Connection Series - Starts Monday
MPS Friends & Families!
Continuing off the heels of our recent DEIB Open House, we announce The DEIB LIT Community Connection (LITCC) Series. LIT is an acronym standing for love, inclusion & trust and LITCC meetings will take place on the last Monday of the month through May, with exception for the month of December.
Meetings will be from 6-7:15 PM on the following dates: 10/26, 11/30, 01/25, 02/22, 03/29, 04/26 & 05/24. We will connect in the Key Room of our Milton Public Library. Each meeting will have a topic(s) for discussion. For October 26, we will establish our Community Agreements and share updates regarding equity at MPS. Our LITCC meetings are continuous opportunities for us to have sustained, informed and open communication regarding DEIB at MPS and within our community.
If you have suggestions or thoughts to share in this regard, please email me at jadams@miltonps.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
