Welcome to February!

We are officially settling into what educators call the "largest learning season of the year." The stretch between Winter Break and Spring Break is magical in the classroom. Routines are solid, friendships are established, and our students are making incredible strides in their academic growth. This is the time when we often see the "lightbulbs" go on and the biggest leaps in progress happen.

We want to take a moment to thank you for continuing to partner with us during this crucial time. We know that student success doesn't happen in a vacuum—it happens when home and school work together.

Beyond the academics, we are so grateful for your support in instilling our Bridges life skills. Whether it’s kindness, responsibility, or perseverance, seeing your children display these character traits in the hallways and on the playground is the highlight of our days. Thank you for reinforcing these values at home; it truly makes a difference in our school culture.

Please remember to have gym shoes for the days your child has gym. Especially since the weather is going to warm up and it will get muddy/dirty outside and we want to keep the gym/hallways clean. Also a quick reminder that boots are not as safe for the concerns of twisting or spraining ankles etc..

Please make sure your child has their packet of information and is registered. If they haven't let the classroom teacher know their topic, please also remind them to do this! Happy Science Fair! We are in need of Science Fair Judges! If you are able to judge, please let Chelsea Copeland and/or Jody Rittmiller know your availability! Here is the schedule for Wednesday, March 18th.

8:10-8:45 am - Set up projects in the gymansium

9:00-9:30 am - Judges meet to talk through judging, get settled and ready

9:30-11:00 am - Judging of projects

1:00-2:30 pm - Open for family and classrooms to view projects.

2:45 pm - Clean up projects and take home

To keep our students safe, please follow these rules during arrival and dismissal:

• Pull to the curb: Never stop in the middle of the street to let students out. Please park on the side of the road or wait for a spot to open.

• Keep Bus Lanes Clear: Do not park or idle in the designated bus lanes at any time. Cones will be out, please do not park in the designated bus lanes as they need to get in and out. Thanks for your understanding.

🌲 THE BIG TRIP

• What: Up North Minnesota History Field Trip (Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Duluth)

• When: April 29 – May 1

🎉 THE PARTY

• What: 5th Grade Celebration

• When: May 14 @ 1:30 PM

• Where: Gymnasium & Cafeteria

• Families who are interested in applying to a MAPS focus school can review the important dates and information listed below. Please read carefully to stay informed throughout the application and lottery process.

  Key Dates

  October 1, 2025
  The application window opens for all MAPS focus schools.

  January 23, 2026
  The application window closes. All applications must be submitted by this date.

  February 13, 2026
  The notification process begins for families who participated in the application lottery. Every family in the lottery will receive either an offer or a waitlist notification. Families who receive an offer must accept or decline the seat within one week from the date the offer was sent. It is important to respond within the required timeline so the district can move through the placement process efficiently.
