Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Neubert Families,

I can’t believe it’s already the month of May! As we begin our final three weeks of the 25-26 school year together, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the support you provide your children, our staff, and our entire school community. Your communication, involvement, and partnership are what make Neubert such a special place to teach, learn, and grow.

My first year as principal has truly been the best year of my career (now 14 years in), and that is because of this incredible community I’m so grateful to call my home away from home. The month ahead will be busy, fast-paced, and full of celebrations, and I’m looking forward to making the most of every moment together!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home.

Your Partner in Education,

Ms. Nicole Bryan, Principal
Neubert Elementary School

Spring i-Ready testing began on Tuesday, April 28 and will end on Friday, May 8. This assessment provides valuable insight into your child’s growth over the course of the school year and helps teachers better understand individual strengths and areas for continued support. The results are used to guide instruction, set goals, and ensure each student is receiving what they need to be successful. If you have any questions about when your child will be taking the assessment, please reach out to their classroom teacher.

To help your child feel confident and prepared, here are a few helpful tips:

  • Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep before testing days
  • Encourage a healthy breakfast each morning
  • Remind your child to take their time and do their best
  • Help them arrive at school on time and ready to learn
  • Offer positive encouragement and reduce any stress around testing

Thank you for your support in helping our students show what they know!

Together for Tomorrow Community Workshop Together for Tomorrow Community Workshop

District 300 is set to conclude its Together for Tomorrow Community Workshop series and we invite you to join the final workshop session on Monday, May 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State St., in Hampshire.

  • The general entrance for this event will be Door 11, which is the main entrance located at the northwest end of the building.

  • Families requiring childcare are asked to use Door 18 for the old gym near the northeast end of the building. (These families will then be guided to the event space.)

  • Parking will be available on the north side of the school, with overflow parking available on the west side of the school.

The overall goal of the final session is to finalize the recommendations for an upcoming report to the Board of Education. During the Community Workshop, attendees will:

  • Review the Final Options: Review the big-picture options for the future of District 300's facilities.

  • Develop the Board Recommendations: Help determine the best path forward for potential facility projects and the various funding options associated with the Master Facility Plan. The feedback and decisions made during this workshop will play a vital role in shaping the formal report that will be presented to the District 300 Board of Education.

All community members are welcome to attend.

May; Mental Health Awareness Month May; Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of caring for our emotional well-being just as much as our physical health. At Neubert, we are committed to supporting the whole child by fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and connected. We encourage families to take time this month to check in with one another, practice self-care, and talk openly about feelings. Simple moments—like sharing a meal, going for a walk, or unplugging from devices—can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can continue to build a community where mental health is prioritized and everyone feels supported.

Supporting Student Well-Being Supporting Student Well-Being

At Neubert Elementary School, we care deeply about the well-being of every student. Sometimes children may feel sad, worried, or overwhelmed, and it’s important for them to know they are not alone.

If your child is having a tough time, we encourage you to reach out. Our school team is here to listen and help.

Families can connect with:

  • Mrs. Carter, School Social Worker - melia.carter@d300.org

  • Mrs. Rentmeester, School Social Worker - amanda.rentmeester@d300.org

  • Mrs. Freling, School Social Worker - lindsey.freling@d300.org

  • Ms. Bryan, Principal - nicole.bryan@d300.org

  • Mrs. Nowak, Assistant Principal - christina.nowak@d300.org

  • Mrs. Almodovar, Student Services Specialist - kimberly.almodovar@d300.org

  • Your child’s teacher or any trusted staff member

If your child ever shares thoughts about wanting to hurt themselves or seems in immediate distress, please seek help right away. You can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, for immediate support.

We also encourage families to talk openly at home and remind children that it’s okay to ask for help. Together, we can make sure every student feels safe, supported, and cared for.

Lost and Found: Is Your Student's Favorite Hoodie Playing Hide-and-Seek? Lost and Found: Is Your Student's Favorite Hoodie Playing Hide-and-Seek?

Updated 04/28/26

It seems our Lost and Found has become the most popular "hangout spot" at school! Our collection is officially overflowing, and it’s looking a bit like a winter wonderland in there, minus the snow.

We currently have a mountain of treasures waiting to be reunited with their owners, including:

  • Winter Coats that miss the great outdoors.

  • Hoodies that are feeling a little lonely.

  • Shoes waiting for their "sole-mate."

  • Gloves and Mittens (many of whom are currently flying solo and looking for their better half!).

If your child has come home a little "lighter" than they left this winter, please encourage them to take a peek at the Lost and Found table.

To help lost items make a quicker reunion in the future, we encourage families to write students’ names on their belongings. A name goes a long way in helping us return items faster. Thank you for helping keep our Lost & Found from growing! 😊
