Because Coaching Isn’t Just on the Sidelines
Hello AZVA Families!
Dear Learning Coaches,
Can you believe we are already into the second quarter of the school year?! Time flies when you're having fun!
On November 10, we have our Annual Family Fun Day... with a little twist! It will be our first Family Fun Movie Night! We invite all of our families to come meet some of your teachers, administrators, and fellow classmates in person at this exciting event. It will be Tuesday, November 10, from 4:30-7:30pm at the Arizona Athletic Grounds, 6321 S Ellsworth Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212. Note there is no school the next day in observation of Veterans Day.
We envision a future where every student reaches their full potential through personalized learning, inspired teacher, and meaningful opportunities that prepare them to thrive in college, career, and life. Every Student. Every Path. Every Possibility.
Yours in Education,
AZVA 6-12 Team

Let's take a look at some wonderful things going on in our classrooms!
8th Grade Science hosted their first Science Showdown during science workshop on Wednesday, September 16. Science Workshop is a weekly opportunity for students to review concepts and prepare for AZSci Testing in April. Science Showdown happens once a month during this time.
Mrs. Shakespear's, Mrs. Cabrera's, and Mrs. Razo's students participated in a game show style review of Newton's Laws of Motion. We played the theme song, analyzed the data set, and the competition was fierce! It finished in a three-way tie! All classes have 16 points! They will meet again November 4. Who will be the top science class at the end of the year?! 🏆
🌟 Bringing History to Life in World History! 🌟
Students in Ms. McCall’s World History class recently tackled a teacher-graded assignment comparing the governments of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. While some students chose the traditional essay format, others took a creative approach by producing videos and podcasts to showcase their learning!
It was exciting to see students use their unique talents and perspectives to demonstrate their understanding of history. From thoughtful analyses to engaging multimedia presentations, students found innovative ways to make connections between the ancient world and modern government. Great job, historians! 👏📚🎥🎙️
Mrs. Pettit's 6th graders shared what they learned in World History class. Take a look at all the unique ways they demonstrated their new knowledge!
¿Hablas español? It doesn't matter if you are just beginning to learn Spanish, want to embrace your heritage language, or want to continue practicing your native language; AZVA has the technology to make it happen and the right instructor to support you! Señora Shriner's Spanish students created some videos to share their growing language skills. Grades 8-11, let your counselor know if you'd like to take Spanish next semester!

When students enroll and have a history of special education services, our school follows all legal guidelines under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This means we request and carefully review any existing evaluations, eligibility documents, and IEPs to ensure students receive appropriate and comparable services.
Our commitment to Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) means that all students, regardless of disability, have access to grade-level curriculum and are placed in courses that align with their academic needs and graduation plans. We’re here to support every learner and ensure a smooth, thoughtful transition into our school community.
