March Newsletter
2021
From the Desk of Principal Cherry
West Families,
The Boise School District School Board unanimously approved a phased return to five days a week in person learning. West Junior High students will return to full 5 day a week in person learning beginning Monday, March 29, 2021. We are excited to have all of our students return to in person learning. Please see below the safety measures we have in place to ensure a safe return for all students and staff. If your child will not be attending 5 day a week in person learning, please contact your child's counselor to make the transition to Boise Online School for the 4th quarter. Since students will be in attendance in person, remaining virtual is not an option.

A polo must be worn every day, even if a student is wearing the West hoodie or sweatshirt. For the complete dress code, please see link below.
West Junior High Dress Code Policy
Differences Between the Different Dress Days at West
Throughout the year, there are certain days students do not have to wear the uniform. Here are the guidelines for these non-uniform days.
Free Dress Days: Students may wear what they want as long as they follow the Boise School District Dress Code Policy. (3223) This policy can be found in the student agenda or on the Boise School District Website. It reads in part….”Clothing, accessories, cosmetics, tattoos and jewelry that are immodest, disruptive, gang-related to displaying illegal or banned substances are not appropriate. (To clarify, clothing such as spaghetti strap tops and leggings (without along shirt) are not allowed. Also, shirts and shorts that are not at least fingertip length are not allowed.”
Spirit Days: Students may wear a West or Borah shirt or Sweatshirt and uniform shorts, skirts or jeans (that are free from rips and holes). Athletic shorts and sweats are not allowed.
Dress Up Days: We ask that students try to look their best by dressing in their very best. This may include dresses, shirts, and ties. We usually ask for this on days such as picture days, award assemblies, or guest presentations.
Students are never allowed to have rips or tears on uniform days and if it is a non-uniform day, leggings must be worn underneath. No skin is allowed to show.
Reminders:
Please remember that we are unable to deliver food, flowers, balloons, etc. to your child at school. It cause a disruption so we ask that you save these items and celebrations for times outside of the school day. This includes having food delivered to students at lunch through various food delivery services. Thank you for your cooperation.
