Wylie Elementary May Family Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
As we head into the final month of the school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by! May is always a special time on our campus as we celebrate the incredible growth our students have made—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Cubs have worked so hard, and we are so proud of each and every one of them.
This month will be filled with important learning, end-of-year celebrations, and special events. We encourage all students to stay focused, continue giving their best effort, and be present each day as we finish the year strong.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. It truly makes a difference in the success of our students and our school community. Let’s make it a great final month at Wylie Elementary!

Counselor's Corner
PERSEVERANCE: the ability to work through situations even when there are obstacles or challenges in the way.
Perseverance - what a great word to end the school year! Our students have worked hard this year and, despite some challenges, have come so far academically and socially. We are very proud of their effort and determination.
This month the counselors will be visiting classrooms to discuss perseverance or not giving up when things get hard. First grade will listen to a story called Leo the Lightening Bug, (Drachman). All of Leo’s little friends can already light up their tails, but poor Leo, try as he may, can’t seem to figure out how to make his shine. Will he give up or will Leo persevere? Second grade will watch a very inspirational video and discuss the true story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah. Emmanual’s Dream, (Yeboah) tells the story of how a young boy did not let the fact that he was born with one leg keep him from his dream of biking across Africa. Third grade students will explore mindfulness; how setting goals and having the drive to achieve those goals relates to perseverance.
We hope you have a safe and relaxing summer!

May Reminders for Families
Attendance Matters
Every minute of instruction counts. Our school day begins at 7:45, and students who arrive late miss valuable learning time. Please help your child be on time and present each day so we can finish the year strong!
Read Every Night (Especially 1st & 2nd Grade!)
Reading at home is one of the most powerful ways to support your child’s success. Aim for 15–20 minutes each night. Ask your child questions about what they read to build understanding and confidence.
Stay Focused & Do Your Best
We are encouraging all students to stay focused, put forth their best effort, and keep a positive mindset. Remind your child to take their time and never give up when learning gets challenging.
Finish Strong
The end of the year is in sight! Encourage your child to set goals and continue working hard each day.
PBIS & Cub Bucks
Students are earning Cub Bucks for positive behavior, effort, and responsibility. We love celebrating students who are making great choices!
Library Books: Please check at home for any library books and return them as soon as possible.
Lost & Found: Encourage your child to check the Lost & Found for any missing items before the end of the year.
Dress Code Reminder:
As temperatures warm up, we want students to stay comfortable while still following our school dress code. Please help us by ensuring your child comes to school dressed appropriately each day.
