Note From Principal Pautler Note From Principal Pautler

Hello Bulldog Families,

Homecoming Week – More Than Just a Game

Homecoming is one of the most special traditions in high school, but many of our students don’t truly know what it’s all about. Originally, homecoming was designed as a time to welcome back alumni and celebrate the school’s spirit, pride, and legacy. It’s a week that connects the past, present, and future of our school community — a time for students to celebrate together, for alumni to return, and for everyone to share in the pride of being a Bulldog. We encouraged our students to take part in the events we had this week and hopefully they will show their spirit, and help make this homecoming game memorable. (In a good way!)

Fall Break – Time to Recharge

Fall Break is right around the corner! There will be no school from October 16th through October 20th, giving everyone a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy some downtime. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 21st. We hope our students and staff take advantage of the break to relax and come back refreshed for the second half of the semester.

Good Luck to Our Bulldog Band!

We’re incredibly proud of our Bulldog Band as they travel to St. Louis over Fall Break to compete in the Bands of America Super Regional. They’ll be performing and competing against more than 50 of the best bands from across the country, and we know they’ll represent Edmond Memorial with pride, energy, and excellence. Best of luck to all our band members, directors, and volunteers — we’re cheering for you every step of the way!

A Quick Note

Since next week will be a short week leading into Fall Break, our newsletter will take a brief break as well. We’ll return the following week with updates, celebrations, and everything happening around Bulldog Nation.

🎃 Halloween Costumes at Memorial 🎃

Yes, Bulldogs, the tradition lives on—Halloween costumes are absolutely allowed on Friday, October 31st! This is one of our favorite days of the year, and the hallways always feel like they’ve been taken over by a movie set. To make sure the fun keeps going for years to come, let’s stick to a few simple ground rules:

1️⃣ Keep it classy, not sassy. Costumes can’t be offensive to any group of people. We’re here for candy and laughs, not controversy.

2️⃣ Follow the dress code. If your costume requires the word “naughty” in front of it… save it for your dog or cat at home. (They’ll be impressed. We won’t.)

3️⃣ No masks in class. Algebra is already scary enough without trying to solve equations while staring at a zombie or a Chewbacca mask.

4️⃣ Mobility matters. If you can’t make it from one end of the building to the other without knocking over three friends and a water bottle, your costume might need a redesign. (Sorry, inflatable T-Rex… but we still love you.)

As always - keep anything that looks like a real weapon - at home.

Let’s keep the day fun, safe, and full of creativity. We can’t wait to see what you come up with—Memorial never disappoints!

Senior Jostens Information

Hello senior parents/guardians!

This morning, seniors met with Jostens reps to go over information on ordering their caps/gowns. Please note the following important highlights from that meeting. I am also attaching the flyer that was given out today from Jostens.

  • You can order your cap/gown by going to jostens.com. They have a variety of packages available. The only thing the school requires you to purchase is the basic cap/gown/tassel package.
  • Caps/gowns/tassels will be delivered during Senior Morning in April.
  • The early-bird pricing deadline is October 8. After that, prices will continue to increase each month. Order yours ASAP to avoid any price increases! Edmond Memorial asks that you have your cap/gown ordered by November 21.
  • Students filled out a postcard with contact information so Jostens can send you reminders directly. I am attaching a QR code you can scan to sign up for those reminders as well, if you have not yet done so.
  • If you need financial assistance for your cap/gown, your senior needs to visit with their counselor. They have applications available for a scholarship program through the school. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is October 24.
  • If you have questions about ordering your child's cap and gown, please contact Jostens directly at 405-607-4343.

Also, these links were sent out yesterday, but it doesn't hurt to have them in one more place:

  • To reserve a legacy cowl, please fill out this Google Form (legacies are for students who had a parent/grandparent/great-grandparent/etc. graduate from Memorial. Siblings/aunts/uncles/cousins are excluded - this is generational only)
  • To reserve a military cord, please fill out this Google Form (these are provided for free from Tinker AFB for any students who has an immediate family member who has served or is currently serving in the US military (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.)
  • The deadline to reserve these is December 5.

Please be sure you have joined our Band group to stay up-to-date on all important information (https://band.us/@26seniors).

For general graduation questions, please email me at emily.busey@edmondschools.net. For questions specifically about ordering caps/gowns, please contact Jostens (405-607-4343).
