Tier I Instruction
Team,
Building on the momentum of Week 6's peer shout-outs, our focus now shifts to fostering student-led self-reflection and personal accountability. High-performing classroom cultures aren't sustained by teacher management alone, they thrive when students actively value, protect, and take ownership of shared community expectations. When students reflect on their own habits and effort, personal responsibility takes root.
To maximize instructional time and prepare our students for upcoming interim assessments (Grades 3–5), formatives, and unit/module assessments, we must ensure our Tier 1 core instruction is clear, rigorous, and uninterrupted. Please take time this week to tighten and reinforce your classroom systems and entry/exit routines. Be laser-focused on early indicators of off-task behavior, addressing them quickly, calmly, and with emotional constancy, so every minute of instruction counts.

AVID Strategy of the Week
The 30-Second Expert strategy is an active learning routine where students turn to a partner and deliver a rapid, concise 30-second summary of a core concept or text passage without interruption. The listener then offers brief feedback or builds upon the explanation before switching roles. This AVID strategy strengthens oral communication, accelerates peer processing, and forces students to synthesize key takeaways under time constraints.
