Principals' Message
Dear SCS Families, Caregivers, and Shelburne Community,
Every family and every educator brings something valuable to our school community: knowledge, experience, perspective, and hopes for our children. Our strongest partnerships grow when we bring those contributions together around a shared goal—helping every child learn, feel connected, and thrive.
With upcoming school conferences, we hope to deepen our partnerships in support of students’ continuous growth. Please look for your child(ren)’s conference details from their primary teacher. That work begins with curiosity and mutual respect. You know your children in ways we never will, and our educators bring insights from learning and growing alongside them at school.
Strong partnerships also grow through thoughtful communication. Please continue reaching out with questions, ideas, and concerns, while allowing staff time to give them the attention they deserve. During the school day, our team’s focus is on teaching and supporting students, so responses may take time. For urgent needs, please contact the main office. To report an absence, late arrival/early dismissal, or change end-of-day dismissal plans please use PUP to notify your child’s team.
Thank you for sharing your children, your perspectives, and your partnership with us. Together, we can keep learning and strengthening the community we want every child to experience.
Thank you for showing up with kindness, patience, partnership and trust that we are all working hard to take care of kids.
In Partnership,
Jen, Brett and Tania

Davis Park Construction Beginning Next Week
A new Maintenance Building and ADA-compliant public bathroom renovation project is beginning at Davis Park next week, bringing construction traffic and specific site impacts for SCS families and the school. It is critical that the access drive from Davis Park Circle remain completely clear at all times—parents, buses, and visitors must not block or park in this lane. The town will post additional cones and signage to the areas marked in blue in the image below. We also ask families utilizing the playground to closely supervise students to keep them away from the construction zone and parking circle. Key dates and temporary closures include:
Oct. 20-21 (Tue-Wed): Trenching for underground electric lines will temporarily close the basketball court, pickleball court, and the tennis court closest to the building (the courts closer to Harbor Road remain open).
Week of Oct. 26: Water to the building will be shut off, closing the public bathrooms for the season.
Oct. 26–30: Court nets will be taken down, with all courts closing by Oct. 30.
Week of Nov. 2: Demolition of the old maintenance building begins.
Middle School Basketball Registration Open
The SCS Basketball season begins November 16. Boys in 7-8th grade and girls in 6-8th grade are invited to register/update their registration for basketball.
SCS has transitioned to Arbiter Registration, a new online athletics registration platform for families this year. This is the same platform that CVU has been using over the past 2 years, so many families may already be familiar with it. This is new, but once we get everything established, registration for Athletics will be a lot smoother!
- All families must complete an Arbiter registration for each student who plans to participate in SCS Athletics programs.
- Families should create one (1) Arbiter account for their household and complete a separate registration for each participating student.
- During registration, families can select the sports their student may be interested in playing throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
- Registration for SCS athletics only needs to be completed once per student each school year.
- Families may log back into their Arbiter account to review or update their student’s information and sport selections while registration remains open throughout the school year.
