MoCA: MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
MoCA 2025 - Humans and Nature: A Changing Relationship
High School Student Art Exhibition
This year’s theme examines the intricate balance between human activity and Earth’s biodiversity. While industrialization, deforestation, and pollution have driven species toward extinction and accelerated climate change, efforts to conserve and protect are gaining ground. Through art, we explore the evolving relationship between humans and nature, revealing both the harm caused and the resilience needed for restoration. High school student artists participating from the surrounding CT and NY for our 10th annual show.

JOIN OUR GHS ART CLUBS
Portrait Project Club with Ms. Julie Nixon (Club Advisor)
The Portrait Project works with the Memory Project connecting students throughout the United States with students from other countries experiencing hardship. Our students are each given a photograph of one partner from another country and draw or paint a portrait of that child to be sent to them wherever they live. For example, this year our portraits were made for children in Syria. The portraits will also have a message and picture from our student artists at GHS on the back.
Art Club with Ms. Julie Nixon
The art club is an open studio where the leaders of the club give lessons, we have visiting artists, and students can also work on their own art.
Photography Club with Mrs. Bennett
Open to all students. You do not need to be a student in Darkroom or Digital Photography to join!
Sustainable Fashion Club with Dr. Iozzo
This club was initiated by two eager students wanting to use recycled or donated clothes for the creation of new garments. Their mission is to decrease the amount of textiles going into our landfills contaminating our planet. This club meets every other Thursday.
Dr. Iozzo in Collaboration with the Sign Language Club
Dr. Iozzo is working with Mrs. Flynn, Mrs. Anderson, and a wonderful group of student volunteers to create a mural in Folsom House for the American Sign Language Program! A BIG shoutout to Scott Dudzinski for the amazing mural design! The mural is expected to be complete by the end of February! Thank you to Scott Dudzinski, Christian Dudzinski, Chelsy Sitchon, and Claire Sario for your hard work and dedication to this project!
2025 SPRING INTO ART
It's back! We are thrilled to have our Spring Into Art show scheduled for Friday April 4, 2025. Every student who has taken art during the year, will have their work displayed throughout the art wing for this art extravaganza! More information to come.
