Dear Cascadia Families,

Are you feeling spring fever at your house? The classrooms, halls and playground at Cascadia are full of energy and excitement. There are many events happening in May and we hope you will join in the fun.

  • Today we started the May Reading Challenge (more information below).
  • 3-5th graders will finish up our state testing this month and all students will do their end of the year i-Ready testing.
  • Our students are fundraising for our PTO and will do the Lap-apalooza next Friday. Hope you can come cheer your child on!
  • May 22nd is our World Tour Museum Day! Many of you are returning your input forms (thank you) and we are excited to celebrate the many cultures at Cascadia.
  • May 30th we have a fun assembly planned to celebrate our May reading challenge and announce Lap-apalooza winners. That early release is also a literacy day to kick off summer reading and more!

As always, thank you for sharing your child with us, we are so lucky. Look forward to seeing you at one of the May events.

May Reading Challenge! May Reading Challenge!

We are having a May Reading Challenge in partnership with the Bellingham Bells baseball team. We will help all readers read for 30 minutes a day at school. All students who do this important work will get a ticket to the Bellingham Bells baseball game, a free hot dog and soda for the June 25th game. We will also draw names for free books and two kids will will a bike!

Remember, all Cascadia students should read 30 minutes a day at home too.

Spring Reminder...bikes, scooters, helmets! Spring Reminder...bikes, scooters, helmets!

It is great to see so many students waking, riding their scooters or bikes and driving their electric bikes to school. Please remember that we expect students to wear helmets when riding to school. They also need to get off their "wheels" once on campus. We're seeing more students who do not have locks or cannot lock up their scooter/bike/skateboard. We are focused on child safety and are not able to supervise the "wheels" left unattended without being locked up.

If you pick your child up in the car or walking from the front of the school, please help us. We have a staff member on Pacific Highlands Drive to help keep traffic moving and to help families cross if they need to. She has been yelled at and ignored during this time. Please remember that this supervision is to keep our students safe and if you have concerns I am always happy to meeting.

If you are walking with your child from the front of the school, please cross where we have the staff member (front parking lot) or from the rear parking lot.

THANK YOU!
