DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
"Do A Job"
DECEMBER 5, 2025
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Break and are rested up for the final push to the end of semester 1, which will take us into Christmas break. My Thanksgiving was highlighted by a 4 AM delivery of my new grandson, Jacob Jaric Pope. The Hogobooms are feeling very blessed and looking forward to spending more time with our 3 grandsons.
With the end of the first semester coming, I encourage students and parents to be in communication with teachers to get any final assignments handled and to be ready for exams. Remember, exams count for 20% of the final grade and will happen over the last three ½ days before break on December 17, 18, 19.
Today our band left for their Hawaii trip, where they will be performing at Pearl Harbor in front of The Arizona and USS Missouri Memorials on Saturday. On Sunday, December 7th, they will march with other bands in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade. Thank you to all of you in our community who have donated or helped with fundraising to make this trip possible for our kids. Watch for some details on various Facebook posts, as they will attempt to livestream some of their performances.
This week, our Farm To Table class had the chance to partner with Grove Street Cafe and our Community Garden to prepare and serve a meal that included some of the chickens that we had raised in our coop here on campus, as well as some vegetables and herbs grown in the garden next to the elementary. Wednesday night, they served their families, Dr. Wright, and a few others. We appreciate Grove Street and their willingness to allow our kids this experience and we value those partnerships that make learning more real and relevant for students.
Boys Basketball kicked off the 25/26 season with a couple of home games this week. Wrestling opened its season on Wednesday at Martin, and Cheer opens its competitions soon. Come out and support our DK athletes. Our Panthers work hard and do their best to compete and represent us all with good character and sportsmanship while they pursue victories. Check out the athletics page on our website or follow @DKPANTHERS on Instagram, X (Twitter), and Delton Kellogg Athletics on Facebook for athletic news, updates, and schedules.
Our DKHS students continue to shine with their willingness to help. This week, Mrs. Lundquist and her Allied Health students spent part of their day on Wednesday helping set up the Santa Shop in the Elementary building. The Santa Shop is for our little friends at the elementary who get to find treasures they can gift to family members to experience the joy of giving. Our students worked very hard to carry 100’s of boxes inside and set up the store for shopping. That heart for service they displayed makes them this week’s Hogie’s Heroes.
SANTA'S HELPERS
Prepping Santa's shop in the elementary for students to come shop for their families and friends, sponsored by PIE. Allied Health rocked out on the teamwork to get the job done.
FARM TO TABLE
Thank you to Grove Street Café in Delton for opening your kitchen to our students and allowing them to learn real-world food preparation skills.
The vegetables in this meal were proudly grown by our Elementary Garden Club, Plant and Animal Science students, and last year’s Woods and Automotive classes. This experience truly showcased the farm-to-table cycle as students harvested produce from our local garden and prepared the chickens raised by our Farm-to-Table students.
We are grateful for this community partnership that helps our students learn, grow, and give back.
