Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We had a great start returning to our building! It has been wonderful to see students settling back into their routines and jumping right back into learning.
We have several exciting events coming up:
Spelling Bee: Our school Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday, January 14. If your child is participating, you are welcome to come and watch. Please remember to enter through the main office to sign in.
American Heart Association Kickoff Assemblies: We will be kicking off our American Heart Association assemblies next week. This is a great opportunity for students to support an important cause. Please keep an eye out for more information on how to register your child.
Orchestra Concert: The WCS and WMS Orchestra Concert will also be held on Wednesday, January 14, at WHS, beginning at 6:30 PM. Our fine arts program is top-notch, and our orchestra students have worked incredibly hard. We hope you will come out to support them.
Progress Reports: Progress reports will close on Friday, January 16, and will be made available to parents on Friday, January 23.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a great few weeks ahead!
Mrs. Martin

A REMINDER FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
The cold and flu season is upon us. To prevent widespread flu and other sickness in the school, we recommend that students stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold-like symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your them to school, please consider the following guidelines:
Consider keeping students at home for an extra day of rest and observation if they have any of the following symptoms:
Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough
Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
Headache
Stomach ache
Definitely keep students at home for treatment and observation if they have any of following symptoms:
Fever (greater than 100F)
Vomiting (even once)
Diarrhea
Chills
General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
Students can return back to school if they are fever free for 24 hours without use of fever reducing medication. Students should be physically able to participate in all school activities on return to school. Keeping a sick child at home will minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom.
Please contact our school nurse Mrs. Dolezal ldolezal@windhamsd.org with any questions.
