💙💛Celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Month
Did you know? Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when a person is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21. Just like all children, students with Down syndrome have their own personalities, strengths, interests, and ways of learning. This month is an opportunity to celebrate inclusion, kindness, and the many ways every student makes our school community better. At Escalona, everyone belongs.💙💛
Our Fall issue of School News is here! Take a few minutes to see what’s happening across our school community and catch up on the great things taking place with Norwalk La Mirada USD. 💙🤍
Attendance Winners🏆🏆🏆
The first step to learning is simple—you have to be here! And for the month of September, Mrs. Haranian’s class (lower grades) and Mrs. Kim’s class (upper grades) led the way with the best attendance! 🎉 Mrs. Haranian’s class will have the special honor of being caretakers of our Escalona Eagles, while Mrs. Kim’s class will enjoy a visit from the treat cart. Way to show up, Eagles! 🦅💙
🎨It’s PTA Reflections Time!
The PTA Reflections competition is back, and we would love to see our Eagles participate! This year’s theme is “What My Culture Means to Me.” Students have an opportunity to express themselves and share their creativity through the arts. Please encourage your child to participate! We can’t wait to see how our Eagles bring this year’s theme to life. 🎨🦅💙Please see the information below for details on how to participate.
🦅October PBIS Focus: Safety
This October, our PBIS focus is SAFETY! At Escalona, we want our Eagles to understand that being safe means making choices that protect themselves and others.
Families can help reinforce safety at home by talking about:
- Walking safely in parking lots, hallways, and public spaces
- Keeping hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
- Following adult directions the first time
- Using playground and sports equipment appropriately
- Speaking up when something feels unsafe
- Making safe and responsible choices online
Ask your child: “What does being a safe Eagle look like?” When school and home reinforce the same expectations, our students hear one clear message: Eagles are respectful, responsible, and safe! 💙🦅
✨Thought for the Week✨
“Sometimes safety is simply knowing there’s someone in your corner.”💙
🔎Missing Something? Check Our Lost & Found!
Families, our Lost & Found is overflowing! Please stop by the front of the school and take a look for any missing jackets, sweaters, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more. Help us reunite these lost treasures with their rightful owners—and don’t forget to label your child’s belongings!
Escalona Student Handbook
We encourage you to read the student handbook and other important information with your child. This helps everyone understand our school’s rules, policies, and the resources available to support your child’s success. Let’s work together to make this a great school year.
