Mustang Messenger 4/1/26
Some thoughts for the starting school year
April 1, 2026
A Message from the Principal
Dear St. Matthias Families,
As we prepare to enter Spring Break, we also stand at the threshold of one of the most sacred and joyful seasons of our faith—Easter.
Lent has invited us into prayer, sacrifice, and reflection. It has called us to slow down, to examine our hearts, and to draw closer to Christ. Now, we look ahead with hope to the celebration of the Resurrection—the promise that light overcomes darkness, and that new life is always possible.
As you spend time with your families over Spring Break, I encourage you to remain grounded in this Easter message. Take time to pray together, attend Mass, and reflect on the incredible gift of Christ’s love and sacrifice. Even in rest, we are reminded that God is always at work renewing us.
At St. Matthias, we are deeply grateful for each of you—your partnership, your faith, and your commitment to Catholic education. Our community continues to grow stronger because of the shared values we hold and the care we extend to one another.
May this Easter season fill your homes with peace, joy, and renewal. May you return refreshed, restored, and ready to finish the school year strong.
We look forward to welcoming our students back on April 13th.
Wishing you and your families a blessed and joyful Easter.
With gratitude,
Dr. Streat

Spring Break Reminder: Attendance Matters
As you prepare for Spring Break, we pray that you enjoy a safe and restful time with your family.
Please remember that attendance matters. There are 180 school days, and students who miss 20 or more days are at risk of academic consequences, including possible retention, in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education guidelines.
Extended breaks outside of the school calendar are considered unexcused absences. Let us work together to ensure that every student is present and finishing the year strong.
Lost & Found Reminder
With changing weather, many students are removing jackets and sweatshirts during the day and leaving them behind.
If your child is missing an item, please have them check the Lost & Found in the main office. We also encourage labeling all items with your child’s name.
