Appropriate Dress - "Summer attire"

With the weather warming up, we are starting to see our students, particularly some of the girls, coming to school with midriff tops. I just wanted to make sure that we could use our parents' help in terms of guiding our students at home when they are picking out their clothes for school.

From our handbook:

Student Appearance: A student’s appearance, including dress and hygiene grooming, must not disrupt the educational process, interfere with the maintenance of a positive teaching/learning climate, or compromise reasonable standards of health, and safety, and decency.

Students who dress or groom inappropriately may be subject to disciplinary measures. General guidelines include: Decent and appropriate coverage of the body, including the midriff, is expected.

Clothing must cover undergarments and must be opaque (i.e., not see-through).

Hats or hoods should not be worn in the school building. Students may wear a hat or hood at recess.

Rainbows Student Peer Group

A local Rainbows peer group was recently initiated to provide a safe space for students in 1st - 8th grade to share their experiences associated with loss of a loved one and/or a changing family dynamic due to divorce, deployment, etc. Trained facilitators help encourage communication while identifying, navigating and discussing feelings amongst the group. A second session of the program will begin in September of 2024. Each session is 12 weeks long, meeting weekly in the evening for 1 hour.

Please note, we are looking for more volunteers to help facilitate these peer groups. Teachers will receive CPDU credits! Any interest or questions please contact Justine Karl, 847-340-1741 or Phyllis Lubinki, 312-659-6226

Please fill out this Google form to sign up and/or to be added to our communication list."
