TVUSD uses the i-Ready Diagnostic for our students in kindergarten through 8th grade. iReady is an adaptive assessment that adjust its questions for each student. As a student answers correctly, the questions get more difficult. As a student answers incorrectly, the questions get easier. This adaptability allows the iReady Diagnostic to identify the strengths and opportunities for growth of each student. Scores are reported in both Reading and Math.

Use the link below to learn how parents can review student diagnostic assessment results, learn more about the purpose of iReady, and how to support the process from home. Please contact your student's teacher for specific questions about academic process.

Student Survey Administration:

Between October 16th through November 3rd, students at all TVUSD schools in grades 3-12 will be asked to complete a survey measuring student self-efficacy, self-management, and emotion regulation, as well as their perceptions of school climate, safety, and sense of belonging.

Parent Preview:

Per Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5022: Student and Family Privacy Rights, parents have the right to preview survey content and opt their student(s) out of survey participation. Survey questions are created with students in mind, and use grade level appropriate language. Links to preview student surveys can be found by clicking the button below. Parents can also opt out of the survey by clicking on the link found in the survey newsletter. The deadline to opt out is Monday, October 9th.

Part 2: Data Refinement

Dear TVUSD Community Members:

As we continue our search for the next superintendent of our school district, we want to express our sincere gratitude for those who participated in our first survey. Your invaluable input and participation is truly appreciated.

However, our commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and ensuring that every member of our community has the opportunity to weigh in on this critical decision remains unwavering. To this end, we are launching a second survey to gather further input from all stakeholders in our community.

The second survey will serve multiple purposes:

  • Qualify Prior Input: We want to ensure that the qualities and qualifications identified in the first survey are clear and can be elaborated on.
  • Additional Insights: We recognize that perspectives may evolve, and new insights may emerge. We also wanted to add additional options for open response.
  • Community Engagement: This survey reaffirms our commitment to an open and inclusive superintendent search process. We want every member of our community, including parents, teachers, students, and local residents, to have their say.
  • Refinement of Criteria: The data collected will assist our search committee in refining the criteria for selecting the best candidate to lead TVUSD.

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in this process. Your dedication to our community's education system is truly commendable, and it is your commitment that will help us find the best leader for our schools.

Figuring out how to pay for college can be tough, especially for families with limited resources. Fortunately, the State of California has launched a program that could make college a reality for millions of children in our state. Starting July 1, 2022, community-based organizations throughout the state will work to educate parents about the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS).

CalKIDS, a new program administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the State of California and chaired by the State Treasurer, will automatically provide eligible, low-income public school children in grades 1-12 in California with the tools to start saving for college, including an initial seed deposit and possible financial incentives in a college savings account. The State of California created the program to expand access to higher education and encourage families to jumpstart saving for college and other forms of career training, regardless of household income.
