Anita Scott Elementary families,

The day is here! You can now register for our Scott Glow Run! Our goal is to raise $12,000 for supporting students and staff with supplies and resources. Registering is easy and free!

It's Time for End of the Year Testing!

Our students and staff in all grades have worked hard all year and it's now their time to show what they know. Please talk to your students, no matter their age, about the tests they will be taking in the next few weeks. Here are the tests our students will take by grade level:

Kinder-2nd will take the mClass reading test, which is a timed assessment that measures their reading skills.
Grades 3-5 will take the STAAR Reading test on 4/16, 5th graders will take the STAAR Science test on 4/23, and grades 3-5 will take the STAAR Math test on 4/30.

It's important that your children get a good night sleep the night before these tests, and eat a healthy breakfast, either at home or at school, that morning. We want to be sure that all of our students are ready to shine on these assessments. Please try to schedule any medical appointments outside of your child's testing dates. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher(s).

We will also not be open for Family Lunch guests from 4/15 through 5/3 so that our students can focus on their end of the year testing. Thank you for your understanding!

End of the Year Ceremonies

It is hard to believe that we are already talking about the end of the 2023-24 school year! Please mark your calendars for these dates, as we celebrate all of the growth and accomplishments of our students:

Wednesday, May 22: 2nd Grade Awards

Thursday, May 23: 5th Grade Promotion, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th Grade Awards

Please note that both of these dates are early release, so our students will be dismissed at noon, and Thursday, May 23, is the LAST DAY of school!

All visitors who plan to attend these ceremonies will be required to scan in with a valid photo ID (ID card, drivers license, or passport) and get a visitors badge.

Procedure Reminders

Attendance Procedures - REMINDER!

We have a new PEIMS clerk joining our Scott team! Now, after each absence please send in a paper note or email to Heather Wadsworth at heather.wadsworth@rcisd.org.

3 days unexcused absence - parents will have to sign an attendance contract

7 days unexcused absence - parents will have to attend an attendance committee meeting

10 days unexcused absence - truancy will be filed with the county

Please send in those notes so that we can get those unexcused absences changed to excused! You can send in a parent note or doctor note! At this age attendance is not a student responsibility but a parent responsibility so please ensure your children are at school when they are healthy!

Cell Phone Procedures

Students in Grades K-5 are not allowed to use cell phones or watches with cell service accessibility while on campus property. If a student needs to have a phone with them, due to afterschool care communication, it must remain turned off and inside the students backpack until the student is off school property.

If a student is caught with a cell phone it will be taken up and turned into the office. The phone will not be released to the student. A parent/guardian will have to come to campus to pick up the cell phone.

The school is not responsible for any stolen or broken electronic devices.
