St Francis of Assisi's Peace Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Dear Parents

The St Francis of Assisi prayer – above – is one of my favourite prayers and I feel is very relevant in the current climate around the world.

2025 Three-Year-Old Kindy Parent Information Session

We warmly invite all families who have enrolled and been offered a place in our 2025 Three-Year-Old Kindy program to attend our Parent Information Session on Tuesday, 1 July from 9:00 to 10:00am. A formal invitation has been sent to all relevant families. This session will provide valuable insights into the program and help prepare your child for a smooth transition into Pre-Kindy.

2025 Three-Year-Old Kindy Program

We are delighted to announce that our 2025 Three-Year-Old Kindy program will commence on the first day of Term 3, Tuesday 22 July. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for children to develop social skills, establish routines, and engage in meaningful play-based learning—laying a strong foundation for their transition into Kindy in 2026. A limited number of places are still available. If you are interested, please contact the school office for further information.

Interschool Cross Country Carnival

On Tuesday, selected students from Years 3 to 6 represented our school at the Interschool Cross Country Carnival, following their strong performances at our recent school carnival. Our students demonstrated great sportsmanship and determination, achieving some great results. We extend our sincere thanks to all participating students for being excellent ambassadors of our school, and to Miss Jones for her dedication and effort in preparing the team.

Volunteers

At St John Paul II, we recognise that parents are the first and most important educators in their child’s life. We warmly encourage all parents and caregivers to be actively involved in our school community.

To ensure we maintain the highest standards of duty of care and confidentiality for all students, we have been reviewing and refining our volunteer processes.

Next week, teachers will send out a Volunteers Form via Seesaw to all families. From the beginning of Term 3, the procedures outlined in this document will come into effect. Before participating in any volunteer activities, you will be required to sign the form to acknowledge your understanding and agreement with the school’s updated procedures.

We thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school community.

Congratulations and Best Wishes

As previously announced, Mrs Jasmine Hutchings will be concluding her role as Year 4 teacher at the end of this term as she begins her maternity leave. On behalf of the entire school community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Jasmine as she prepares to welcome her new baby—an exciting and joyful chapter ahead.

We also take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jasmine for her dedication, care, and commitment to the students of St John Paul II Catholic Primary School over the years. We are pleased that Mr Eddie Gibbs, a familiar presence within our school, will be stepping into the Year 4 teaching role for the remainder of the year.

End of Term Mass

Next Thursday, our students will gather to celebrate the End of Term Mass, marking the conclusion of a busy and rewarding term. This occasion will also be particularly special as it will be the first time our new parish priest, Fr Bernard, leads our school community in liturgical celebration.

We warmly invite all families and members of the parish community to join us for this meaningful occasion as we come together in prayer and thanksgiving.

Mid-Year Reports

Student reports will be available to you through SEQTA Engage from 3pm on Thursday, 3 July.

The Mid-Year report is a summary of your child’s progress against the SCSA achievement standards that relate to the content that was covered in Semester One. The report will help you have a conversation with your child in regard to their achievement, effort, responsibility and attitude towards learning. It will help you celebrate successes and to also determine some areas of focus for Semester Two. It is important that students own their efforts and achievements. It is our responsibility as adults to ensure that they understand and appreciate that, whilst they have the support of family and school, they themselves are the most influential person in determining the results they achieve.

Term Dates

I wish all families a happy and safe Term break and look forward to seeing the students smiling faces again next term.

The last day of Term 2 is Friday 4 July

The first day of Term 3 for students is Tuesday 22 July.
