The Riverwalk Roar

A Note From Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and that those of you who were at the PTO Fall Festival found some time to recover from such a fun evening.
Before I get to the festival, I want to highlight some exciting news we posted on social media this weekend. As many of you know, we’ve worked closely with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) over the past few years. They’ve been instrumental in strengthening our teaching practices and have helped us define “the Riverwalk Way,” which puts project-based learning (PBL) at the forefront. Last week, we learned that Riverwalk Academy has been selected to work with NIET to become a TAP school. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what that means. To sum it up, it’s going to make our instruction and student outcomes even better. To learn more, check out our announcement: https://www.riverwalkacademy.com/article/3209853.
Now, back to Friday night . . . what a night! The PTO Fall Festival was a tremendous success, and I want to take a moment to celebrate the people who made it happen.
An event of this size takes an enormous amount of planning, coordination, and hours of work, and that’s a big undertaking for any group, let alone a newly elected board in its first few months. Our PTO board embraced the challenge, rallied our Pride, and delivered an evening full of fun, laughter, and community. I heard glowing reports from so many families and staff who attended, and the wonderful comments on our Facebook post said it all: families connecting, kids smiling, and neighbors enjoying time together.
To our new PTO board: thank you for your leadership, your hard work, and your commitment to our school community. To every parent who volunteered, set up, worked a booth, or cleaned up at the end of the night, and to our staff who gave their time on top of everything else they do: thank you.
You set the bar high for next year, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
With Pride and Purpose,
Dr. Compton
