BES Parent Weekly Email
August 8, 2025
From the Principal
Thank you so much for a GREAT first week of school. Being a parent myself, I know the struggle of trying to get in a better schedule and routine after summer break. Thank you for working on this so that your child gets plenty of sleep each night. I hope that your child had such a great start to school that they are excited about coming back on Monday!
Car Tag - On Monday, all car riders will be expected to show a car tag to the staff member calling cars. If a car tag is not present, the pick up person will be instructed to park and show identification to the front office staff. All students have received a car tag through their welcome packet. If you need additional car tags, they can be printed for $1.
Tardy - To be considered on time, the child must be sitting in their classroom at 7:45am. At 7:45am, our front door locks. The parent/guardian/driver will be expected to park their car and sign their child in at this point. Officer Hodges, our School Resource Officer, will be there to remind whoever is dropping off your child. Our instruction begins at 7:45am, so being late for school results in loss of instruction. ***This will begin on Monday, August 11.
Early Dismissal - Students will not be allowed to be dismissed between 2:00-2:30pm for Early Dismissal. Please plan to pick your child up before then, if you have a doctor's appointment. Repeated Early Dismissals could result in an Attendance Plan.
Absences - It is imperative that your child is at school. We have a new system, and will be monitoring attendance very closely. You are allowed to turn in up to 5 Parent Notes to cover an unexcused absence. An example of a Parent Note would be a low grade fever, throwing up, etc. If you take your child to the doctor, please be sure to turn in the medical note. A student is considered truant with 3 consecutive absences or 5 unlawful absences. At this point, an Attendance Meeting will be scheduled with the Parent/Guardian and administration to create an Attendance Plan. Continued truancy will result in turning the plan over to the Anderson County Board.
Car Dismissal - Thank you so much for your patience as we get everyone used to our dismissal. I promise, it will get faster once everyone is used to the flow. This normally takes 1-2 weeks.
Bus - Many of our students that did not register for the bus on time will begin on Monday. You should have received an email about this from transportation. Be sure your child knows how they are getting home on Monday. If you have questions about the bus, contact the transportation office.
We want and need you involved in your child's education. If I can do anything to assist you, feel free to reach out to myself or Mrs. Lance.

Lunch with Child
Parents - We would love for you to come eat lunch with your child this year, if your schedule allows! You are also welcomed to bring them lunch from the outside. For your child's specific lunch time, reach out to your child's teacher. We do ask that you do not take your child home early though so that he or she does not miss any instruction. Be sure to bring your drivers license in to check in at the front office.
Paint the Rock
PTO wants to invite you to "Paint the Rock" for your child's special occasions (birthday, sports/dance tournament, etc.) The cost is $20 per day. All the details and to register are in the link. Reserve your date so that it does not get filled up!

Pep Rally
We had an awesome Pep Rally the second day of school. During the Pep Rally, we discussed our behavior system and ways they could earn points in Class Dojo. Students who have an average of 80% or higher will get to attend the grade level Corn Hole Tournament at the end of the nine weeks. Check your child's Dojo daily to help reinforce their behavior and stay up-to-date with what's happening in the classroom.
Anderson University
Shout out to the Anderson University Football Players and cheerleaders for welcoming our BES students into their first day of school!

The tardy bell will ring at 7:45am. Students must be in their classroom by 7:45am in order to not be tardy. Parents must park and walk their child in if they are tardy.
